Taiwan Gives Up On F-35, Turns to F-16V Option - Their M-2000s are up for sale

Uttam shall allow integration of Astra 2(maybe Astra 3 too in-future!). Astra 2 will have 200kms+ range in a high and fast launch which M-2000 is very much capable of. So, we should pursue it despite MK1A.

M2000's design is not suitable for missiles longer than the MICA.

The fuselage hardpoints can only handle MICA. The centerline is too small. The wing pylons are suitable, but necessary for fuel and MICA IR.

So the only next-gen options are MICA NG and CCMs like ASRAAM.

The current radar won't be able to guide Mica-NG(RF) to its full 160kms engagement range. So, having Uttam MK1/A should help here as well🤷‍♂️.

You can put MICA IR under fuselage hardpoint and use 2 wing pylons.

Out of blue question : France once offered complete tech transfer of M53-P2 to India, right? Sometimes around last year? Is it true or false?

Also, what do you think, was it real or fake?

what are the specifications of MICA-NG?
Currently under development, the MICA NG air-to-air missile will renew the medium-range interception, close-combat and self-defence capabilities of the Rafales used by the French Air Force, the French Space Force and the French Navy.

Its performance, in addition to that of the METEOR missile, will enable it to cope with changes in enemy threats. It will replace the MICA missile, which is due to be phased out of service in 2030. Launched as part of the 2019-2025 Military Planning Law (LPM), the MICA NG programme will provide for a total of 567 war-grade missiles + 250 training missiles.

8 missiles can be carried on Rafale F4.2 aircraft

DIMENSIONS
- Length 3.1 m
- Diameter 0.16 m
- Wingspan 0.48 m
WEIGHT
- 112 kg
RANGE
- Increased compared with the MICA

End of 2018: Direction Générale de l'Armement (DGA) placed an order with MBDA for 200 MICA NGs, which will enter service in 2026.
March 2021: DGA orders 367 MICA NGs from MBDA for delivery between 2028 and 2031.

I don't know, but the M53-P2 is an old technology and we've proposed a complete technology transfer of the M-88, so if you're interested in the M53-P2 I don't see any problem.

You are mistaken. It was the M88-3 ECO core for the Kaveri and LCA Mk2, as part of offsets. And even before that back in 2010.

Now the main goal is AMCA.

I think it was around time when india bought a bunch of retired Mirage 2000s for scavanging parts. 2021 or so?

Can we fit Astra on M-2000 as it is 3.84m vs 3.1 of MICA?

Astra has a range of 110 km and has been integrated with Sukhoi-30MKI. It is set to be integrated with Tejas, MiG-29 and Mirage 2000 fighters of the IAF.

I've read the report too, but that query was to address @randomradio's assertion that M-2000's design isn't optimized for BVRs longer than MICA(3.1m length). That's why I wanted confirmation of @Picdelamirand-oil regarding the above.

AESA seeker and dual pulse motor while keeping the same dimensions.

I think some (a lot?) folks might know this. During late 70s (around 79), france was building Mirage-4000 jet. Think it as Su-30 (or F-15) but french and having same lineage as M-2000. The prototype was extremely interesting and really great. It was never finished because... the two customer who were funding a lot of it (Iran then under Shah and Saudi Arabia) withdrew... I wonder if we could have stepped up. We bought a lot of Mirages in 1980 from France.

If we could have worked out something, we would be flying a jet with commonality (engine and weapons) with M-2000 by 1990 latest, having western radar and weapons and above all a very reliable and powerful engine. With upgrade path likely, we could have introduced AESA radar equipped heavy fighter at a later date...

France did not have a requirement for a heavy and long range plane like this but it might have bought something.

To top it all M-4000 looks absolutely beautiful dazzling.
