How does Chinese flankers fare against our Su-30 MKI ?

Source? JF-17 block 3 made its first flight in Jan 2020. Thats all. Where did you get the detection range for its radar from? Also, where did you get PL-15's range from?

It's an export radar, stuff about it is open source. The Americans have given clues about the PL-15's range.

So? How do you know those engineers are not lying through their teeth?

'Cause they need to sell.

Wrong! Mk1A's radar has lesser detection and tracking range compared to bars.

Then we have the sh!ttiest AESA radar in the world.

Will they tell you if they have an agreement?

Yes.

Like this:
.

They naturally do not want the Chinese to take away their export market.

'Cause they need to sell.
First, they don't need to sell stuff to Think Tanks.
Second, purchaser does their independent evaluation.
Third, you factor in their pathetic sales record. Their biggest customer is Pakistan, who have very limited buying options.
Tells you how good their products or how truthful sales pitch is.

They are making their foray into high tech exports only now. Before that most of the stuff they use wasn't cleared for export.

For example, now the J-10C is up for export.

And they want to put the J-31 up for export. So naturally information about these systems are released to the right people, and these people transfer such information to Think Tanks to create reports. Then the reports are studied and this gives militaries a template to compare other stuff elsewhere with the Chinese stuff.

Here's a pretty good French article about the J-10C.

Quite wrong. J10B was available for export since 2000s or early 2010s. I remember Pakistan being interested in it in 2006 but it never materialized. Tells you how good their wares are.

Even the Chinese did not buy more than 2 regiments of J-10B. And it wasn't cleared for export. The Pakistanis simply fib all the time. Remember they are gonna buy Su-35s too. And considering PAF bought the JF-17, I don't know where the argument of whether their wares are good or not comes into the picture.

They have a J-10, three Flanker versions (J-16, J-11D, J-11B, in that order) and 1 next gen aircraft carrying their own indigenous AESA radars.

A correction here. The J-11D is still a prototype and they are going to rework it further for some reason. So it's J-16 and J-11B with AESA.

How well our Mirage 2000's fare against these Chinese flanker derivatives? Which one is better among Mirage 2000 & Su-30 MKI to counter these Flankers in Air to Air ?

Due to how ancient the R-77 is, our best BVR capable aircraft is the handful of Mirage-2000 carrying MICA.

In the last 4 years, the Chinese have added a new class of missiles and AESA radars on their Flankers and that has given them a big advantage over us.

Our only immediate answers are the Rafale with Meteor and MKI with Derby ER. However the Rafales are yet to arrive in any significant numbers and the IAF took too long to decide to add the Derby ER on the MKI.

So we are currently outclassed at this front, by a significant margin. Only training, tactics and EW will be our equalizer.

Its been more than a year since Balakot.. And there were persistent rumours of IAF acquiting K-77 M with aesa seekers and 200 km range for Su - 30 mkis

Would be great if true. If the Russians are willing to part with some, then it will work out. It will likely come at the cost of dumping the Derby ER, perhaps more than that, like assurances of a Su-57 purchase or something else.

Strange they were able to put an AESA seeker in a tactical missile, and not in the nose of a fighter... I say FOC seeker and radar.

I think it has more to do with the short gestation period for developing an AESA seeker versus an AESA radar. So, if they started at the same time, then the AESA seeker will be ready long before the AESA radar.

Anyway, the Russians are already producing the AESA radar for the Su-57. And there's another one for Mig-35 as well.

Mirage 2000 with MICA is very capable due to ICMS which is a SPECTRA like system, you should speed up HAL to deliver the retrofit of all your Mirage 2000.
Mirage 2000 will soon be able to fire MICA NG.

There are reports that we have started receiving RVV-SD and RVV-MD AAMs, which we had ordered after balakot..
