Out of service date for Mi17 is 2032.

For remaining Chetak, Cheetal and Cheetah fleet, the OSD is also 2032. (Remember some order were given after 2010, so that's why)

Probably new copter deal will be signed or atleast process will be initiated to procure new during the ongoing visit of DM in USA.
Not so easy. Army Aviation is pushing to have its own heavy lift choppers. That would need a new AoN before we can start talks of more.

When was it a dead deal before this declaration?
Competition with Army Aviation. Army has been coming down hard that any rotary wing support for its formations will be operated by AA. Now IAF is not transferring it's Mi17 fleet to IA , so AA is pretty much blocking any new buy from IAF at MoD level. It was just too late now to happen.

Further BSF and ITBP specifically backed out from supporting IAF. Both of them want their own aviation assets now. But as their fragmented budgets cannot afford it, it won't be coming.

If paramilitary and army both want their own helicopters from now to support their operations (which is fine), for what purpose will IAF buy it?

But was there an official statement towards the cancellation earlier or is the first such official statement ?

shouldnt that be mounted near the edge of the door frame ? this looks way too deep inside the cabin. Another thing to notice is door is not that wide enuf like other gunships for easy exit & entry.

Its all movable. Its not a gunship but a utility helicopter with a gun.

1800m ... jeez m2 HMG without optics, I doubt if anyone can even identify a target over 800m.
