Sukhoi Su-30MKI

On topic @randomradio, u meant buying additional 12 Su 30mki as payment to Russians?

You mean the IPR comment Rajput made? If his claim that HAL is ignoring IPR is true, then it's very likely that the MKI MLU will have an imported component as well, the upgrade won't be 100% indigenous. Whether it's 12 from Russia or the remaining 84, the imported component could go into both. Could be Russian, French, or Israeli.

Tejas mk1: A trainer.

Tejas mk1a will be a gen 4,but not a single example is flying as on 9th December 2023 @IST 02:03 AM. Icing on top, its just a compromised version of IAF's original version MK2.

AMCA is a project under discussion at various stages of decision making. Not any work is started, AFAIK.

Ha Ha Ha....🤣🤣
Tejas MK1 is equivalent to Gripen c in capabilities and MK1A will surpass it by miles..
It has better fuel fraction than Gripen c, better weapons with best of western, Russian, and Indian weapons and is very agile due to RSS Quadraplex FBW, and very safe to fly. Has a ferry range of 1900 kms and combat range of around 300-500kms depending on drop tanks and capable of carrying 6 air to air missiles and a gun and total combat payload of 4200kgs which Good enough for point defence due to fast response as it's a single engine which takes less time to come to full power and is just like mig 21bis.

Add ground attack capabilities which is even better than SU-30MKIs with JDAMS, & spice 2000 and even Hammer is being integrated. Tejas MK1A is complete modern 4.5 gen fighter a small pakage with a big Bang..😊

I will not call an FA50 fighter, so as Tejas Mk1 too.

You can somewhat make that argument for Mk1 in particular, but it's still superior to the FA-50 'cause the Korean jet is a two-seat and naturally has limitations. It also has a less powerful engine, has lower range, lesser payload, lesser performance etc. The two-seat LCA is much more competitive with it.

Mk1A is all next gen. It is currently superior to the MKI in BVR, reccce and strike 'cause of the more advanced avionics.

Could not decide where to put, in radar thread or here. This is based on a recent tender.

This KAM-500-1(Master) is the new RWR-NG that covers frequency between 1GHz to 40 GHz, almost giving upgraded MKI, SPECTRA like capability. Awesome news, btw(y)
KAM-500 is the data acquisition unit that is to be installed on the jet for each testing/trial. Same will be done for ASPJ trial too. Astra trials, ngarm, any store trials they use it for data gathering purpose I think.

Eastern command has been doing the annual VijayDiwas for the past few days, last year army command only flew the helicopters with both countries flags attached below. This year it seems IAF Su30 is also taking part, yesterday and today both after the 2:30pm round by the helicopters (1 Rudra, 1 ALH, 2 chetak) there was a huge sonic boom. Could not spot the jet yesterday, today managed to spot 1 flanker, that's the first time I saw and experienced a fighter jet flying personally. Can see why there were reports of strange loud sounds at Balasore testing in media. Its quite incredible, even more so by spotting the flankers distinct shape. Very small in the sky so could not catch a pic sadly. Amazing experience even if just for few seconds.

Yes, but 500-1 is gathering data for RWR-NG. This RWR-NG is something that turns the EW capability of our MKI several notches above from now(and the current DR118 Dhruti ain't no joke either).

IAF to extend life of Russian Su-30MKI fighter jet fleet by more than 20 years

New Delhi [India], December 31 (ANI): Having started the induction of Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter jets about two decades ago, the Indian Air Force is now planning to extend the service life of its Russian-origin combat aircraft by more than 20 years.

The Indian Air Force has inducted 272 of the Su-30 MKI fighter aircraft operating in its fleet and the twin-engine planes are going to be the mainstay of the force for at least the next 15-20 years.

"Indian Air Force is looking to extend the service life of the fighter jets by another 20 years or more. Indian Air Force carries out extensive tests on the airframe and other parts of the aircraft to extend their service life and has had earlier experience in doing so," defence officials told ANI.
"Service life extension would help the Indian Air Force to maintain the fleet of its mighty Su-30s around 2045-2050," they said.

Indian Air Force is also working on boosting the capabilities of the aircraft by equipping it with major upgrades in terms of indigenous advanced radars, avionics and weapon systems. It is working to upgrade its fleet of Sukohi-30 MKI fighters with indigenous weapon systems and radar named Virupaaksha.
"Virupaaksha radar is being developed indigenously, keeping in view the requirements of IAF in different sectors and would be the most advanced one among all the Sukohi-30 variants being flown around the globe," the government sources said.

Sources added that the Indian Air Force has been working on a mission mode to indigenize the equipment in its inventory and looking to buy equipment from Indian firms worth over Rs three lakh crore in the near future.

The Su-30MKI is a multi-role air dominance fighter that can carry a versatile array of weapons including the Astra Mk-1 long-range air-to-air missile, Brahmos Air Launched missile, and an array of bombs, among others.
