They surely need to work on design....... Look to crude, less refined & less aesthetic
These ships are supposed to have the ship based DEW system mounted somewhere right, ie not just in the front section only but to cover 360deg ?
May be the LRMFR would be earmarked for long range AD/BMD roles. The radar atop the mast could be a X-band radar for anti-ship & land attack roles.
Maybe we will get to see a multi-mission customizable bay amidship. There has to be something at the back to balance out the weight on the foredeck of the ship.
Yes... This the most appropriate design concept for NGD... I LOVED IT...just want a very small modification of the MFR to be a little slanted in angle to cover maximum angle in Azimuth... But this is much better design than the latest rumoured one.... We need a superior system than PLAN TYPE 055 & it's succesors... Right now India may not match PLAN in quantity, but we can obviously outclass them in Quality.
I like the flush smoke stacks on the Type 055. It frees up enough deck space for a VLS amidships and reduces RCS a fair bit too. IN is more conservative when it comes to topside design.

If it's going to be four paneled Astra AAAU than ship going to get bigger..... Would probably make it the most capable destroyer on planet.
US Navy would die to have a 6 mt diameter radar on their warships...... Now imagine four of them each with 45,000 TRM with total of 180,000 TRM.........This radar would detect a B-21 size stealth bomber at upward of 500 Km easily.

Revised estimate 18,000 TRM max since it's operating in S Band that's 72,000 TRM in total..... Imo, more than likely NGD will get a 4 panel superstructure mounted radar config similar to Arleigh Burke/Type 052D/Type 055, given the sheer size.
From what we know, LRMFR is quite a bit a big larger than LM SPY-6 that's going onboard AB Flight 3 and a host of Euro ships. Hopefully it's a scalable design that can be adapted to P-17 size FFG in the future.
That render looked really good. They only issue with that design is the radar. If the LR-MFR (6 m wide & 25 ton per panel) has to be mounted atop a mast, P-18 will have a draft of ~8 - 8.5 m & length to 200+ m.

I will not loose sleep on weather P18 has 48 VLS or 120+ VLS.

Could it be that we're going for fore and aft citadels for mounting LRMFR? It is a novel idea but well proven. The Germans have the under dev F-127 class DDG design with a similar layout.
And then there's the in-service F-125 class too.

Can not tell tbh , we have to see what config finally get revealed. Currently there are tenders for ship propulsion simulation, plus this aaau etc so bit by bit certain aspects will come clear. The unicorn mast will also likely come, possibly hybrid propulsion too, then dew system, auv carry system. Navy is generally semi conservative ie some sudden crazy idea will not get reflected in the design & later get cleared into production. It will be proven mature system with rational scaling up that does not impact the ship agility speed etc characteristics to compensate for extra weapons loadout. The weapon systems we use are also quite heavy & going thru evolution. So each element has to merge with other present element on the ship in a precise manner.
No design has been officially revealed.
Upcoming contracts include 8 NGC and 7 P-17B. P-18 is 3 to 4 years away.
