Mig-29K upgrade was pending since some time.
Once we put Uttam in our UPGs and 29Ks, then combined with Astra 2, their battle efficacy shall increase several times. If possible, upgrade their obsolete Russian IRST with our indigenous one.

Mig-29 is an excellent platform for integration of new systems. It has one of the best flying characteristics of modern 4th Gen aircraft.

Mig-29UPG second life extension decision is pending. There was even a plan to buy 21 more.

imo, We should only upgrade the life of present fleet and go for newer aircraft like Rafale.
The point is it's so cheap that we can buy both a Rafale squadron and the Mig-29 without breaking bank, and that extra Rafale squadron can be used for other things, while leveraging the Mig-29 against PAF's lone F-16 squadron in the 2040s before it is ultimately replaced by AMCA.
There are some diplomatic and industrial advantages too, like access to other existing Mig-29 customers of the time, like Egypt and Algeria.
