I will never understand why we refuse to even consider making a SPAAG. Most of the tech needed already exists in one form or another.

An indigenous SPAAGM system mounted on the Zorawar LT is reportedly under development. Iirc, it features tube launchers for DRDO VSHORADS and an unspecified 2×30mm gun from L&T.
But as usual that doesn't preclude the purchase of a foriegn system like Pantsir as EP or a parallel project.

Pantsir imports are for the airforce. They have completely different requirements.

He is quoting some other source without mentioning it. Not a reliable writer. The specification is from last SPAD-GMS tender.
Heck, even the DRDO newsletter link is just a round up of generic media articles mentioning them without any official commentary/rebuttal.
DRDO amplifying fake/unverified news is poor PR/social listening.
No autocannons on this thing. But this is the closest thing to a SPAAG any Indian agency/firm is developing:
VEM has also displayed a concept SHORAD sysytem called Ajita with a trainable launcher for RF/IR missiles and a 4 panel AESA. Comparable to Spyder.
The above concept looks similar to the Boeing Avenger system which has a similar 2×4 config for Stinger Manpads.

The contract for the procurement of Tunguska Air Defence Missile Systems, valued at Rs 445 crore, for the Indian Army, was signed with JSC Rosoboronexport, Russia in the presence of Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh. These cutting-edge missiles will enhance India’s multilayered air defence capabilities against aerial threats including aircraft drones and cruise missiles. The agreement will further strengthen the Indo-Russian strategic defence partnership.
