US was never not cosy with pak. Otherwise ISI network would've been dismantled long ago.
US still funds Pakistan through various obscure channels as always. But the fact remains that wether it's china or the USA, they invest in projects meant to exploit pakistani resources for themselves.. just like Britishers did.
Just like Britishers " brought development" by "giving" railways to India.. USA will build the line to extract REEs etc and shop it to their country. Just like brits.
Just like what china is doing in Myanmar. What us-china backed Rwanda is doing in congo and other African Nations. But you will notice a commonality among every such project meant for extraction.. Conflict..never ending conflict.
PA will hope for some scraps to maintain its hold over pak and get some funds to operate it's network. But it will backfire as it has with their earlier decisions of selling sovereignity for funds.. more conflict in the region which will make the region more destabilizing.
It's not like MSS/China is gonna let US extract resources so easily in their own backyard. US is already battling it out with China in Myanmar over resources. As if China will let US have peacefull network in Pakistan. Then there's Taliban governed Afghanistan which is basically warlords who will have their own eyes on sweet resources.. terror, smuggling.. everything will happen even more.
For India, key will be robust industrial policy to be there and transparency in mining rights and so on, using technology to stop illegal operations like smuggling. Which is doable with the capacity we are building. Private corporates won't like too much instability either.
Rest of the things will be as they are going towards.. Intelligence agencies will have to up their game, political will to highlight 0.5 front and nip them. Pak won't have any advantage in overt operations anymore. Neither will india have the the space to get relax in covert domain even without presençe of us there
