India - United States Relations

There are several analysts from D.C. who are trying to present some kind of justification for the behaviour that has been seen across the media landscape over the past few weeks. However, certain things that have been done during these negotiations have been detrimental towards the partnership. Deal making is a two way street. A certain section of the pundits are not helping the cause both in India and in the States. You can easily find their views being presented across social media. Diplomats as usual are working to smooth things out. Something that should have been dry and almost entirely handled away from light has turned into a TV soap opera.

This is tangentially related to the topic, so I'll post here:

The US Army officer whose body was found in a room in Dhaka’s Westin Hotel on August 31 was a Command Inspector General for 1 Special Forces Command (Airborne) and had plans to retire in the next two years, Northeast News has found.

Terrence Arvelle Jackson was found dead in his Westin Hotel room on August 31 but the US embassy in Dhaka was reluctant to disclose much about his army background.

But his LinkedIn page says that he served in the United States Army for over 20 years and participated in multiple combat deployments, and temporary duty assignments across the Asia Theater”.

Hailing from Raeford in North Carolina, Jackson was a “full time military officer”.

He joined the US Army in June 2006. However, previously he worked “part-time” in the Army National Guard from June 2003 to June 2006 and was then posted in South Carolina.

Jackson’s LinkedIn page says, “My pervious Military Occupation Specialty (MOS) was Infantry Officer 11A, and my current MOS is Special Forces Officer or 18A. I currently wok as a Command Inspector General for 1 Special Forces Command (Airborne), and I plan to retire in the next 2 years”.

The 1st Special Forces Command (Airborne) is a division-level operations forces command within the United States Army Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). The mission of 1SFC (A) is to organise, equip, train and validate forces to conduct full-spectrum special operations in support USSOCOM, Geographic Combatant Commanders, American ambassadors and other governmental agencies.

USSOCOM has the ability to rapidly deploy a high-level headquarters to run sustained, unconventional campaigns in foreign theatres.

Bangladesh Police officials said that Jackson was aged about 50 and his body was recovered from Room 808 of Westin Hotel. Jackson was reportedly on a business trip for the last few months and had checked into the hotel on August 29, Dhaka media reports said.

While Bangladesh police authorities do not suspect foul play – at least not yet – preliminary investigations were conducted before Jackson’s body was handed over to the US embassy without an autopsy.

When hotel staff did not get any response from Room 808 on August 31, a duplicate key was used to open the lock.

Police officials said they had reviewed the CCTV footage of the hotel’s lobby and the passage leading to Room 808 but found nothing suspicious. The police suspect that Jackson died of natural causes.

The headquarters of the 1st Special Forces Command (Airborne) is located at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

While Dhaka Metropolitan Police authorities were reluctant to disclose much about Jackson, questions swirl over the presence of a Special Forces officer in the Bangladeshi capital.

What was the precise reason for his arrival in Bangladesh? If he was in Bangladesh for the last few months, what did he do during this time? Who all did he meet and which places in Bangladesh did he travel to? More importantly, are there other US Special Forces (Airborne) officers and soldiers in Bangladesh?

With the Indo-US relation going south it's not unexpected that the US will try to pressure us by fomenting trouble the neighborhood. It is also a given that R&AW has reach throughout Bangladesh. They have capabilities in the entire neighborhood. So, could this be a hit?

As of now the Americans are there to counter Chinese influence for when push comes to shove the Chinese plan to use the multi billion dollar port they've constructed in Kyaukpyu to bypass the Malacca , Lombok & Sunda Straits.

Additionally they're pumping a lot of gas out of the Myanmarese coast transporting it to Yunnan from Kyaukpyu.

The US is there to minimise Chinese influence in Myanmar , establish a base there & open up a front if necessary when the balloon goes up in Taiwan.

I suspect they'd have approached India to undertake this task which we may have obviously declined following which they approached SHW who similarly declined except they were in a better position to get rid of her than dictate terms to Modi .

The Tatmadaw too won't hinder US operations as they're tired of being gamed by the CCP who're playing both sides in this conflict.

Our problems won't begin now but after the Chinese have been dealt with if the US presence lingers there of which you can be sure.

Personally I don't think India'd dare target US personnel on foreign soil if they haven't opened up a front against us . This could be attributed to natural causes or a very slim chance China's MSS is behind it though I highly doubt it .

The majority of the sweeping tariffs President Donald Trump imposed during his second term face one final litmus test that will determine whether he can continue to levy them – and also whether businesses are eligible for massive refunds. That potentially dramatic turn in the tariff saga comes after a federal appeals court ruled on Friday that Trump unlawfully leaned on the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) to impose across-the-board duties on countries.

Finland's President Alexander Stubb has warned that the West risks losing the global contest for influence if it fails to engage India and other countries of the Global South with "a more cooperative, more dignified foreign policy."

"This is directly linked to the ongoing competition for a new world order. We've seen that the post-Cold War era is over. I actually think that the tipping point was the beginning of Russia's war of aggression, full-scale on the 24th of February 2022. And this has led to a jostling of power at the same time a weakening of multilateral institutions, rules and norms," Stubb said when asked about the SCO summit in Tianjin, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping.

US supreme court is virtually loaded in his favor, shouldnt expect any issues in tariffs staying put.

Liberal media outlet on Youtube shares its love for India. You can guess it. There is no love lost for India amongst the socialists. TYT is relatively well known.

I have not seen bigger oxymoron group than the current "leftist-liberal-socislist" cabal in modern times.

They want democracy but dislike corporates. They want govt to control everything and distribute everything, giving them unprecedented power.
Then they are also against govts control over their freedom which will obviously be curtailed when govt has so much power over hold of resources.
They want people voice to be heard but like dynastic parties. They chide countries in asia for family based politics but see family controlled party as best to keep them usefull.

There are so many other contradictions.. anyone with a vested interest can claim itself to be liberal and hinder progress.
Instead of regulating corporates, they call of govt running the corporates.

I am your guy, bhai. Trust me.

Worst thing had happened if true, this will give US more oprtunity to become more cosy with pak.
US was never not cosy with pak. Otherwise ISI network would've been dismantled long ago.
US still funds Pakistan through various obscure channels as always. But the fact remains that wether it's china or the USA, they invest in projects meant to exploit pakistani resources for themselves.. just like Britishers did.

Just like Britishers " brought development" by "giving" railways to India.. USA will build the line to extract REEs etc and shop it to their country. Just like brits.

Just like what china is doing in Myanmar. What us-china backed Rwanda is doing in congo and other African Nations. But you will notice a commonality among every such project meant for extraction.. Conflict..never ending conflict.
PA will hope for some scraps to maintain its hold over pak and get some funds to operate it's network. But it will backfire as it has with their earlier decisions of selling sovereignity for funds.. more conflict in the region which will make the region more destabilizing.

It's not like MSS/China is gonna let US extract resources so easily in their own backyard. US is already battling it out with China in Myanmar over resources. As if China will let US have peacefull network in Pakistan. Then there's Taliban governed Afghanistan which is basically warlords who will have their own eyes on sweet resources.. terror, smuggling.. everything will happen even more.

For India, key will be robust industrial policy to be there and transparency in mining rights and so on, using technology to stop illegal operations like smuggling. Which is doable with the capacity we are building. Private corporates won't like too much instability either.

Rest of the things will be as they are going towards.. Intelligence agencies will have to up their game, political will to highlight 0.5 front and nip them. Pak won't have any advantage in overt operations anymore. Neither will india have the the space to get relax in covert domain even without presençe of us there

I think the U.S. fanboys on X might go gaga over these reports. "Strategic Partner, friend, ally, and technical exchange". Now, peace in Ukraine = Tariff necessary.

If there is anyone under the illusion that the relationship comes free of constraints, please do open your eyes.

It seems U.S, Ukrainian, and some E.U ministers might meet soon. Ukrainian FM put out a tweet stating he will meet Minister Jaishankar as well.

why are we even tolerating monkeys like zelenksy ? He is a big snake, not only sends his countrymen to death but has the gal to bitch on other countries. India should put these smaller worthless countries in their place, just ignore them.
