"Roll out by 2027" 😂
It's all khayali pulao. I remember in 2021, they said that roll out will be in 2025. It's 2025, they say roll out will be in 2027. You can already see where its going.

Edit: found the link
2021, some other scientist is the project director of AMCA here. It's a rotating door, 2 yr tenure will be done & a new project director comes in with new imaginary timelines.

Laser Designator beam doesn't take much space.
here is example of regular pod turret ball -

This can be covered by stealthy cover like for F-18 SH advertised roadmap

F-35 EOTS uses same mirrors & lenses for all above sensors & LD.

No idea about J-20/35 but in F-35 -
- The EOTS does rotating IRST function of lower hemisphere + lower DAS does fixed IRST function.
- The upper DAS sensor does fixed IRST function for upper front conical sector.

This prompts us to think that when front upper + front lower + side DAS sensors have front hemisphere coverage then why EOTS does more sweeping IRST function.
See this video

The EOTS of F35/J20/J35 uses the MWIR to reduce the sensor size and it's a compromise to detection range to maximise stealth... But seperate IRST of AMCA will have LWIR, which will be highly effective to detect even stealth targets ( in spite of having cooling systems) at much longer range than the EOTS ( with MWIR) of F35/J20/J35... Here the main challenge for ADA is to make the upper nose IRST ( with LWIR) of AMCA in such a configuration so that it's radar/RCS signature reduced to the minimum... either a STEALTHY SAPPHIRE DOME or, Retractable IRST system ( or, something else) can be used... This will also be a trade off in between Longer range passive detection power ( even for stealth targets) VS the RCS reduction of AMCA's own body.... The seperate EOTS of AMCA will be mainly dedicated to Ground targets detection, identification & mapping.

Their timelines are on the basis of when they anticipate CCS sanction. 2027 roll out is on expected lines since T+3 is standard time from sanction of funds to prototype rollout. LCA Mk2 has same timeline from 2023 CCS sanction to 2026 roll out.

It is likely that sapphire dome we saw tender for before. Now that would be a matter of realisation in time, or use some imported existing one maybe /

Thanks for multi-spectral image like we saw in Predator movie series from his helmet.⛑️🥽😎

We should monitor their pot-bellies how much pulao they're eating. 🍛

Sapphire is not transparent in LWIR. If they are using Sapphire then the primary IRST is going to be MWIR. Zinc Selenide and Germanium are required for LWIR dome.

Good Point... I didn't have the data of RI of Sapphire for different wavelengths... If it is such then obviously you are right... I just expressed my opinion on having different options... But then I've a question that WHY TURKIYE SHOWCASED SAPPHIRE DOME ON THEIR 'KAAN' STEALTH JET PROTOTYPE'S UPPER NOSE IRST ?... THAT MEANS IT'LL NOT HAVE LWIR FOR SURE.20250813_111420.jpg

Yes, saw it already, good you shared it, i was also going to share it. I subscribed him long back as he makes technical videos.

I'm also briefly aware of LWIR/MWIR/SWIR, their penetration & apps on detecting different heat sources, chemicals used for sensors.

Few pages back on page-104 i gave example of block diagram of F-22's cooling system.

Long back in 2021, on page 51 i said that F-35 DAS can pick up missile plume with 10x digital zoom at 1,300 Kms. Hence AMCA team will need to test different band sensors like USAF tested with airborne pods - ATIMS, TIGER, SARIS, ARMS, BASES, CIGARS, SATIRS, SEAIP, etc.

Then i compiled some searched data -

1755093893066.png

So i'm not sure which band & sensor is best bcoz SWIR would be emitted more by exhaust i guess.
If LWR is needed then it seems the sensor will be made of Zinc Sellenide/Sulfide, Germanium, etc, which may not be put behind a regular glass or Sapphire, etc. So imagine stealthy faceted sensor of Rafale's OSF or EF-2000's Pirate IRST.

As example if a missile is detected at 100 Kms, the jet is flying at Mach 1.5 & missile at Mach 4, then relative closure speed = Mach 5.5
Then 100 Kms will be covered in just over 53 seconds.
Some pre-determined strategy & tatics will be needed to dodge the incoming missile depending upon single/dual pulse.

But 5gen & 6gen tactics is to sneak from unexpected direction like pack-hunting. That's why DAS arrangement of sensors with IRST function is important.

Today, we have also taken steps forward in the direction of building Fifth Generation fighter aircraft. We have also moved towards manufacturing the aircraft's engine in India itself. We are about to start engine manufacturing work in India with the French company Safran: Defense Minister Shri

is this like official now? safran is the guy? IF so ig the rafale purchase is now practically confirmed.
