Project Kusha / Programme LRSAM / PGLRSAM

We already got that with the S-400.

Depends on the booster. I'd actually say the Astra Mk2 will be superior to Barak 8. We see the same thing with David's Sling, the missile is smaller than the AMRAAM and uses the MRSAM's radar.

You can see both side by side here.

Our overall SAM and BMD development have very closely followed Israel's. Both of us are using target-specific interceptors. So they have Iron Dome against rockets and artillery, SPYDER and MRSAM/LRSAM against air targets or as CIWS, David's Sling as long range AD and then Arrow series as BMD. We have no need for Iron Dome, but we use SPYDER, Akash and MRSAM for local defense and plan to use XRSAM for wide area defense.

With that said, I won't be surprised if we end up using David's Sling too, but you can see that it's simply better for us to use our own missile instead.

Yeah, but there's no reason why it cannot be XRSAM, Barak 8 has a very similar design after all.
Stunner is actually triple pulse missile with no warhead. It's direct hit to kill. Thus even in that small size, it packs quite a punch. Astra 2 won't be able to match it, IMO.

Astra is not meant to match it, David's Sling has more missions sets to achieve, the example is merely to demonstrate that an AAM-sized missile can perform the task of long range AD.

Astra compensates for differences by being bigger.

You can see that Stunner is shorter than Derby even.

More kusha related tenders came out recently,
Care unit test jigs (semi-active seeker subsystem)
pcb assy, thermal Li-on battery for TM-TC etc being procured.

Came across this article

Guarding Indian Skies with Project 'Kusha'
DRDO unveils 'Kusha' project with the aim to craft a robust indigenous air defence system with LR-SAM capability by 2028-2029

No offence to the author but what rubbish he has written. In one paragraph it is similar to Iron Dome and in another it is like S-400.

^^ forgot to mention TM and TC

Telemetry and Telecommand Antenna Systems/DRDL/PGLRSAM

few other things being made, like the care unit test jig ( seeker component ) , proto pcb etc.

LRSAM dummy M1 canister to be made. Perhaps M1 M2 are mark 1 2 etc like how they make things? RudraM-II & M-III kinda suggest such naming pattern.

DRDO's Project KUSHA (PG-LRSAM) will incorporate a dual-pulse rocket motor. The rocket grain has a length of ~2450mm and a diameter of 250mm. Additionally, the missile will have a booster of diameter 350mm and length >1000mm.The masses of the grains are ~150kg and ~135kg resp.
Hence, the rocket motor grain of the missile will be much larger as compared to the Barak-8/MRSAM (length <1500mm and diameter of 225mm).

If the P1 and P2 are already this chonky then most probably the 150km version missile might not use any booster and this specific version might be 250km range one.

Booster is must for every missile , esp the high speed ones like this. Single rocket motor/single burn can not do the job I guess. This one is supposed to be in IAC so the target will be quite large be it a cruise missile or a jet. Hence the SAM itself needs to be quite large.

Well they are upgrading the LRSAM facility for vls, small explo integration, new test area, mach integration checkout etc for the naval IAC one.

VLU Support and Maintenance Facility Modification for LRSAM (IAC) .
