Εναέρια ασπίδα στο Αιγαίο με άλλα έξι Rafale- Αποφάσεις για φρεγάτες και ελικόπτερα
Greece is planning to purchase 6 additional Rafales. Greece seems to be planning to form one complete combat squadron with 24 Rafals, adding 6 Rafals to the 332nd All Weather Squadron, currently operating the Mirage 2000BGM.

Another interesting news is that the intended purchase of F35 is simply forgotten.
Interesting, so Dassault will be selling 36 jets anyway. Good to know.
36? how are your math for this result?

France to sell 30 Rafale fighter jets to Egypt - investigative website

PARIS, May 3 (Reuters) - France has agreed to sell Egypt 30 Rafale fighter jets in a deal worth 3.75 billion euros ($4.52 billion), investigative website Disclose reported on Monday, saying a deal could be sealed as early as Tuesday.
A French government source said discussions with Egypt on a Rafale deal were at a very advanced stage and announcements could be made very soon.

At this price if India wants 36 Rafale it will cost $ 5.5 Billions. I think it is with some Meteor and Scalp.

L’Égypte serait sur le point de commander 30 avions Rafale supplémentaires

Egypt to order 30 more Rafale jets
BY LAURENT LAGNEAU - MAY 3, 2021

In February 2015, Egypt signed the first Rafale export contract, with an order for 24 aircraft. And in recent years, there has been regular talk of a new, more modest contract, with rumors of the purchase of 12 additional units.

However, the negotiations came up against American ITAR [International Traffic in Arms Regulations], as the SCALP cruise missiles which the Egyptian air force was interested in at the time contained components manufactured across the Atlantic. In addition, relations between Paris and Cairo were strained, as Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi did not take kindly to remarks made by his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, on the subject of human rights. Hence the rumors of a possible order for Eurofighter aircraft from Italy.

That said, Paris' firmness in the face of Turkish activities in the eastern Mediterranean warmed Franco-Egyptian relations. In addition, during the Skyros exercise, conducted last January by the Air Force and Space [aAE] in Egypt, a photagraph suggested that Cairo had finally succeeded in obtaining SCALP missiles, known as "Black Shaheen" for export... And these elements suggested that a new order for Rafales was again in the pipeline.

Now, according to AFP, Egypt is about to sign a contract for the delivery of 30 additional Rafales, worth around 4 billion euros.

"Very advanced discussions are indeed taking place with Egypt and announcements could come very soon," a French government source confirmed to the news agency. Two other contracts, involving MBDA and Safran Electronics & Defense, are also close to being signed.

"It's up to the customer to communicate on this type of order, but if this announcement is confirmed, it would be a great success for the French industry and for jobs in France," reacted Cédric Perrin, vice-president of the French Senate's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, contacted by AFP. For the moment, Dassault Aviation has not commented.

Egypt has reportedly obtained an 85% guaranteed loan from Paris to finance this new order.

As a reminder, and according to the latest report on arms exports submitted by the Ministry of the Armed Forces to Parliament in June 2020, Cairo ordered 7.7 billion euros worth of military equipment from France between 2010 and 2019, making it the fourth largest customer of the French Defense Industrial and Technological Base [DITB] during this period. As for the Rafale, in addition to Egypt, it has been sold to Qatar, India and, more recently, Greece. The Dassault Aviation aircraft is also in the running for bids from Finland, Switzerland and Croatia. Finally, it is the subject of particular interest in Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates and Iraq.

$150M per jet. That's the cost of the jet, spares and weapons if we compare it to India's costs, ie, without ISE and basing costs.

official Dassault press release

The Arab Republic of Egypt has decided to purchase an additional 30 Rafales to equip its air force.

(Saint-Cloud, France, May 04, 2021)

The Arab Republic of Egypt has decided to purchase an additional 30 Rafales to equip its air force.

This new order complements the first acquisition of 24 Rafales signed on February 2015 and will bring the number of Rafales flying under Egyptian colors to 54, making the Egyptian Air Force the second in the world after the French Air Force, to operate such a fleet of Rafales.

It reflects the strategic relation between Egypt and France. It emphasizes also the confidence of the highest Egyptian authorities in Dassault Aviation and their satisfaction with the effective execution of the first contract.

“This new order is proof of the unfailing bond that unites Egypt, the first foreign user of the Rafale, as it was for the Mirage 2000, with Dassault Aviation for nearly 50 years. It is also a tribute to the Rafale’s operational quality, as this is the second time an export customer has chosen to order additional aircraft. Dassault Aviation and its partners would like to thank the Egyptian authorities for this new mark of trust and assure them of their total commitment to meeting their expectations once again,”

stated Eric Trappier, Chairman and CEO of Dassault Aviation.

This contract confirms the Rafale’s technological and operational excellence and its export success.

They will most likely buy the Typhoon as well. These people are crazy.
Do they have money for that? They are not sleeping on oil koney like KSA.
And we should learn many things from Egypt, despite of not being a rich country they are not compromising on national security.

They don't have any money. Their purchases are largely being funded by long term loans and generous donations from KSA and UAE.

The Arab Spring has ensured GCC funds for military modernisation.

No, the Meteor which was developed in cooperation is not ITAR free, and Israel does not look kindly on Egypt being equipped with Meteor. The Typhoon without the Meteor is worthless.

Weirdly, the only alternative for the Typhoon would be the AIM-120, which is entirely not ITAR-free. Is there a possibility to remove IAR restricted technologies from the Meteor?

Interesting conundrum. So the only option for the Egyptians when it comes to long range missiles would be the Russians. Hence the Su-35.

Anyway, the political advantages of buying the Typhoon is greater than just having BVR capability.

Turkey and Iran are involved in places where UAE and Saudis don't want them to. And Egypt is seen by them as a policeman who can atleast manage areas in its neighbourhood.

Iran, i can understand. A shia populated country getting upper hand will not entertain by Arab world.
But Turkey, i dont think Arabs have any problem on Turkey getting stronger, yeah they have some issue with current Turkish lunatic leader.Remember when Pakistan exploded the bomb they all became happy for a muslim country becoming nuclear.

So Egyptian Rafale doesn't have Meteor? 🤔🤔🤔.

I think that it does not have it, but the Rafale is optimal at intermediate range, that's why France favors the MICA over the METEOR and there will soon be the MICA NG. A Rafale, even without Meteor, is especially good against stealthy aircraft where you have to get a little closer anyway, whereas a Typhoon without Meteor is worthless.
