The Rafale F6 will be important for India, considering F3R and F4 will come up for MLU by then.

Anyway, what is "multistatic detection capabilities"? It's under a paywall. Is it in reference to 360 deg capability for radars or something else?
The F22 or F35 type stealth, which is passive, consists in not reflecting the Radar wave in the direction of the transmitter, for this there are constraints on the shape of the aircraft, but as there are also aerodynamic constraints on the shape of the aircraft sometimes they are antagonistic and in this case absorbent material is used to satisfy all the constraints simultaneously. But only a small part of the signal is absorbed, more than 80% is reflected, but not in the direction of the transmitter. Multi-static radar consists in using one plane to transmit and another plane to receive the signal that allows to detect the enemy. Since the receiver is not in the direction of the transmitter it will receive reflected energy, which destroys the usefulness of passive stealth.

I know that part, but is the article talking about this specifically or was there a traslation error, because AFAIK, this is primarily software and can be easily patched?

Anyway, this is a pretty important capability, and not just for detecting stealth aircraft. There's too much stealth everything coming up, like ships, tanks etc.

It is something which is planned but sadly not for F4.2 perhaps F4.3? Or if you ask it as India specific development!

But France has to make it operational because only operational experience will help improve the system. Getting this working optimally will require a lot of regular software patches, which is not possible for Indian Rafales because it requires far too much intelligence sharing between Indian MoD, DGA and Thales, which is not possible. India can accept only if it's more or less perfected very well.

The only way the Americans have a chance at being shortlisted is if they bring the F-35 in, and even then it's difficult.
But f 15 maybe their best bet yet.
F 15EX has the best aesa among all the competitors followed by typhoon and rafale. The engine technology is not bad . The Turks and Koreans license produce it so I don't think the Americans will have any problem. It has the highest external load capacity among all the planes including the su 35 and is faster than every other plane though agility might be shit. The rcs claims go from 0.1-1 and 4 for full external load which is in the rafale/typhoon range of rcs. It has decent range. The only problem being it makes our su 30 irrelevant and is way expensive. The deal for 36 f15 went for 12 billion$.
Timing Of Qatar Finally Signing $12 Billion F-15 Deal Is Wildly Controversial

Even if it clears the evaluations they will definitely loose out as L1 . Rafale and typhoon may then take it...

This is like a SWYAMWAR where GOI/IAF is bride and there is a line up of several BRIDEGROOMS (companies with their different fighters mig29/35, gripen, f-16/21, F-18/15). Everyone is wooing bride to choose him and bride doing NAKHRA and enjoying the BRIDEGROOM's tight spot and having pleasure being centre of attraction......πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜œπŸ˜œ

Think it has something to do with Indian request for silent package to upgrade Su 30 mki. Along with F16/18.

Not agreed then, but some movement in that direction.

@randomradio

Will Russia be able offer similar package?
From su 57 derivatives?

Just imagine. Russian Su30mki airframe and engines and American f15 silent eagle aesa radar, avionics, and electronic warfare suite and weapons package and missiles. It could be a first in the world. Only India can pull this off....πŸ€”πŸ€”

Sorry to say but this will be just imagination... Knowing uncle Sam I hardly doubt that they are even willing to sell us only aesa radar, let alone all the avionics... They know that airforce will not select f18 , and f21 is over after balakot.. so Americans are putting there best bet on f15 which again will be failure too (292 million $) ...

Rafale's AESA radar is better, especially the one coming up for F4.2.

The engine technology is not bad .
Rafale and Typhoon engines are better.

The external load is pointless actually. IAF is not interested in that much, there are other more important factors. They are not interested in speed either, agility is more important. What IAF is looking for is lower servicibility requirements and higher availability, which heavier jets will not provide.

The rcs claims go from 0.1-1 and 4 for full external load which is in the rafale/typhoon range of rcs. It has decent range.
Rafale and Typhoon have lower RCS. And Rafale's RCS is further lowered electronically.

The only problem being it makes our su 30 irrelevant and is way expensive.
Yep, it is in the same category as the Su-30. And the upgraded Su-30 will bring it on par anyway. So it's gonna be a pointless purchase. That's why neither Su-35 nor F-15 have any chance.

The deal for 36 f15 went for 12 billion$.

Even if it clears the evaluations they will definitely loose out as L1 . Rafale and typhoon may then take it...

While the 36 F-15s cost $12B, the Qataris paid about $8.3B for 36 Rafales. Furthermore, Qatar signed another deal for 1.1B in order to support the F-15s. So you already know that the F-15 is more expensive than the Rafale/Typhoon, so that's the end of the road for it right there. Qatar bought 24 Typhoons for $7.7B.

The good news is, this allows the IAF to shortlist another fighter jet that is more expensive than the Rafale apart from the Typhoon.

The Silent Eagle program is dead. The F-15EX is no different from the MKI upgrade program. And the MKI upgrade will benefit from the PAK FA program. And no, there is no American tech in the MKI upgrade program.

It will completely fail. No one will give each other their respective technologies and India will fail at integrating them even if they did allow it.

Anyway, the F-15's AESA radar is not all that great compared to what's coming out of Europe now. Only the F-22's upcoming radar will make the cut.

The only plane India could ever purchase from America is the F-35. The SH-18 and F-15 is a joke offer compared to the Rafale given the 2 billionish they spent on India modifications and already having 32.
