Indian Political Discussion

We are sniffing BJP's downfall and before it's too late BJP needs to distance itself with caste politics promoters within their party. India is preparing for a decisive war with Pakistan. And such kind of blunder was not expected, which has exposed India's fault lines. Luckily some intelligent people in BJP immediately protested along with rest of the sane citizens of India and this was very well orchestrated plan to prevent communal violence in the country, hats of the the young generation.

Exceptionally well handled by the people of India. Otherwise politicians had decided the ill fate.

US big Tech really isn't taking a liking to India's new initiatives on data protection. As always Meta.
No wonder I noticed a narrative push on Insta reels these days. Even if I keep it non-political, indoctrinated video keeps finding themselves in feed.

The dynasty is going to finish whatever is left of the congress.

Actually, fighting it out in the battle of word only favors Congress. Anyone with a mind can infer the truth and attempts of congressi ecosystem to derail anything positive and reveal the shameless character of these clowns.

Like modi or not, but no one in india is gonna believe in "surrender", "Epsteins boasting in email" as true. Especially coming from a one of the most ill-pampered dynasty heir, under which we actually lost land and failed to recover them. And once the book passes through scrutiny and gets published, the full truth will come out. From what I infer, this is just an excerpt. Sushant singh cleverly manipulated by omitting the rest of details and since it's not published, no one can verify it. Propoganda 101.
It looks more like Narvanne using this as opening plot. With " ko uchit hai wo karo" being the start of his explaining the actions army took and how india came out on top in Galwan.

Modi is the same guy who was vilified as 'maut ka saudagar' and whatnot. That finished congress off from gujrat.

Now they are well put on their way to be finished from India too. Congress workers are likely to shift to other political parties too. Only nostalgia and some ground leader dynamics is saving some votes for dynasty. That will further erode.

Heck, if anything.. modi came to international geopolitical arena as 60+ years old. A family ruling for decades and one of them marrying an Italian is more prone to be susceptible to be involved with the likes of eipstien. But, I never saw anyone dissing her on the ground of parliament like that.

It's shameful we have such LoP. Quoting magzines in parliament. Everytime I think he can't stop lower, he proves me wrong. And his language!

I know many of you guys are predicting downfall of Modi... but same has been said numerous times. Meanwhile, anyone who wants to look for another option finds themselves with characters like RG. Politicians like Akhilesh Yadav and others won't be affected since they have little to concern about geo-politics and secure vote bank matrix at home. INC otoh suffers directly from the antics of their HQ.

I pray that these dolts never ever come close to power corridors of our policy making as soon as possible. India needs not just a strong opposition, it first needs a good opposition.

I generally don't take this clown's tweets that seriously but this is a rare instance of him pointing out something everyone is ignoring in the whole discussion "Lt.Gen Joshi Ji's perspective" which is literally available in public domain.

Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Friday (February 6, 2026) said the financial health of the railways department has improved a lot in the last 10 years and it now has a small revenue surplus after meeting all costs.

Replying to supplementaries during the Question Hour in the Rajya Sabha, the Minister said 5.04 lakh jobs were generated during the 2014-24 period while another 1.5 lakh employment is being provided in the third term of the government.

The energy (diesel and electrical) cost has reduced to about ₹32,400 crore from ₹37,841 crore four years ago, despite an increase in freight traffic, he highlighted.

The minister said the railways is having a small revenue surplus because of efficiencies in operations, especially saving of ₹5,500 crore in energy cost, better maintenance practice, and increase in freight traffic by 400 million tonnes.

Railways in surplus!!!!? Fr?

Sometimes I do not understand why Indian politicians have this habit of doing any business of any kind with the PA. There are plenty of lessons to be learnt from the past.

Sarma alleged Gogoi's wife used to take the Attari Border to enter Pakistan to maintain a low profile. The investigation has revealed that she travelled to Pakistan nine times since marrying Gogoi, he said.

Someone from the Gogoi family also helped the Pakistani firm with inputs and suggestions from time to time, he alleged.

Sarma also alleged that during a 2013 Pakistan trip, Gogoi and his wife were allowed to visit only Lahore, but he was later permitted to visit Islamabad and Karachi as well, for which he sought an explanation from Gogoi.

Justifying a central probe, he stressed that the Assam government has its own limitations of investigation. "We believe there is a deeper connection between Elizabeth and Gaurav Gogoi and Pakistan that needs to be investigated."

  1. Massive Supply Gap: India imported 87.54 million tonnes of crude oil from Russia in 2024-25, while combined imports from the US and Venezuela totaled only 13.53 million tonnes—a shortfall of 74 million tonnes that cannot be easily bridged.
  2. US Tariff Pressure: The US imposed an additional 25% tariff on Indian imports in August 2025 (on top of existing 25% duties) partly due to India's continued Russian oil purchases, bringing total tariffs to around 50% on many goods.
  3. Unrealistic Timeline for Substitution: Even under optimistic growth scenarios, it would take 5-6 years for US and Venezuelan oil exports to India to reach current Russian import levels—and such sustained growth rates appear highly improbable given global volatility.
  4. Trade Reality vs. Theory: While substituting Russian oil with American and Venezuelan supplies may seem attractive politically, the analysis shows it's "structurally unviable" in the near to medium term due to limited export capacities and India's paramount need for affordable, reliable energy supply.

Has anyone looked into budget figures for different states (since budgets are being tabled over the last 2 weeks)?

Presenting to you the official Uttar Pradesh budget for 2026-27. There's 2 documents and 1 news article primarily used here: UP Annual Financial Statement (Khand 2 Part 1), UP Budget Speech, and UP Economic Survey 2025-26 (in ET).

Here's the main macro-estimate:

GSDP - The figures here are magical.

According to UP's 2025-26 budget, the estimates were:
2023-24 (actuals) - 25,47,861 crore | 2024-25 (RE) - 27,51,397 crore | 2025-26 (BE) - 30,77,500 crore

According to UP's 2026-27 Annual Financial Statement (page 43, talika 3):
2023-24 (actuals) - 25,47,861 crore (remains same) | 2024-25 (actuals) - 29,78,224 crore (a 8.2% upward revision over the RE) | 2025-26 (BE) - 30,77,500 crore | 2025-26 (RE) - 31,00,914 crore (this represents a 4.11% nominal growth over 2024-25 actuals).

As per the UP Economic Survey, and their budget estimates, their 2025-26 GSDP is estimated at 36,00,000 crore. That represents a 20.87% growth over 2024-25. A 20.87% growth !!?? The economic survey pegs their nominal growth at 12-13%. Considering their 2024-25 numbers, how the *censored* did they get to 36 lakh crore rupees!?

Lets say you don't consider the economic survey numbers.
According to 2026-27 Annual Financial Statement, the 2026-27 BE GSDP stands at 39,75,500 crore. It also mentions the 2025-26 RE at 31,00,914 crore. Now, if one were to take the financial statement numbers (since after all, its the financial statement presented in the official budget), between 2025-26 and 2026-27, the UP economy grew by 28.2%!!! Let that sink in - 28.2%. The AFS presents the UP's economy growth at 28.2 *censored*ing percent.

Now, this is the question - do you assume the 20.87% growth in 2024-25 as per economic survey and budget speech, or the 28.2% growth as per the AFS?

What the statistical departments in Uttar Pradesh are doing and why their government bothers presenting estimates and documents at this point is beyond one's understanding. Hopefully, the MOSPI releases on 27 February present a better understanding of the economic situation in what happens to be India's most populated, most politically significant state.

It’s time for India to support the dissolution of Pakistan and Turkey

The 12 February 2026 Bangladesh elections mark the end of a slow, creeping coup d’état that originated not with student protestors in the streets of Dhaka but rather in an Inter-Services Intelligence boardroom.

The student protests that pushed Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina aside were not organic as gullible diplomats and journalists claimed. The protestors who died were not victims of a repressive police force. Forensic reports show assailants shot students with 7.62 mm rounds, most often fired from AK-47 rifles. The Bangladeshi Army uses such weaponry, but its involvement in the protests was minor. Indeed, witnesses suggest army officers stood down rather than fire on crowds. This suggests the perpetrators acquired the 7.62 mm rounds and AK-47s from an external source, most likely smuggled via the High Commission for Pakistan in Dhaka.

The operation against Bangladesh should have violated a redline for India. So too should Pakistan’s continued support for Kashmir terrorist groups and Khalistan separatists. Old guard Indian leaders reassure themselves that they act in accordance with restraint and value international law, but this only plays into the ISI’s calculations. Rogue regimes always seek to constrain their adversaries by talking the talk of democracy and diplomatic norms while pursuing covert strategies to defeat them. International law only works when all parties abide by the same constraints.

Pakistan’s behaviour will only get worse. Alone, Pakistan is a failed state. But with the financial and military support of Qatar, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia—the new “Axis of Ikhwan”—Pakistani forces are riding high. China, too, wants to see India hobbled. Essentially, Pakistan has become a poison-tipped dagger which different countries use to hobble India and wage grey zone war on it. If India does not respond it might lose its first war and most consequential.

Pakistan seeks to spread separatism, while Turkey and Qatar alongside Pakistan incites India’s 20-plus crore Muslims. While Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan promotes neo-Ottomanism at home, in West Asia and North Africa, he works with Pakistan to promote Neo-Mughalism in South Asia. As an intolerant Muslim Brotherhood acolyte, Erdogan simply cannot accept any order in which non-Muslims wield electoral power over Muslims.

Both moral clarity and reciprocity should guide New Delhi’s policy. While India is a legitimate country, Pakistan is an artificial state whose name literally derives from an anagram of its regions, none of them have anything more in common than a dominant religion and whatever intimidation the central government might provide.

In reality, most Pakistani regions resent the country’s dominant Punjabis. If the Pashtuns of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had their say, they would join with Afghanistan; indeed, they have been trying to do so since the British drew the Durand Line in 1893. Pakistan violates its own laws and constitution with regard to its treatment of Gilgit. Pakistan has illicitly occupied and annexed Kalat, and formerly incorporated Balochistan in 1955. Sindh, too, is culturally unique and deserves recognition.

Just as the United States refused to recognise the Soviet occupation of Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia and credentialed their diplomatic missions in Washington throughout the Soviet period, India should consider recognising the rightful representatives of Pakistan-occupied nations.

Likewise, India should embrace a policy of reciprocity towards Turkey. Turkey today offers scholarships to Indian Muslims whom Turkish Islamists then try to indoctrinate into an intolerant worldview dismissive of India’s diversity. The Indian government should respond by welcoming Kurdish students who can learn the skills necessary to promote their identity, cultural, and political rights to counter Turkey’s increasingly autocratic society.

India might also welcome former Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) members from Turkey and Syria. Ideologically, many Kurds conform with India’s traditional socialist worldview. While Turkey considers the PKK a terrorist group, European courts recognise it as a legitimate insurgency. The United States, for its part, did not designate the PKK as terrorists until Turkey demanded the Clinton administration do so as a prerequisite to a major Turkish helicopter purchase. As Turkey funds separatism in Kashmir and incites Muslims elsewhere, India would be within its rights to promote Kurdistan from New Delhi, even arming and training Kurds in self-defence.

Pakistan has had almost 80 years to define itself as a responsible state, but it has failed to make the case for its nationhood. What the country’s founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah defined as a state for Muslims has deflected from its own internal figures with hatred, aggression, and intolerance. Had Pakistan wanted to succeed, it could have lived side-by-side India in peace; instead, it seeks to tear down India rather than build itself up.

Frankly, if India hastened Pakistan’s dissolution, it would do the world a favour. Likewise, as Turkey becomes an engine for radicalism in the 21st century akin to what Saudi Arabia was in the 20th, New Delhi should teach Ankara a lesson: it is one thing for Turkey to promote Islamism in Somalia or Syria, but it is quite another to attack India directly or by proxy. Erdogan’s arrogance will only grow until someone like Narendra Modi bloodies his nose. And if Kurds win their freedom in the process, that too is a victory for the moderate and democratic bloc that India is poised to lead.

Interesting info.

There is a persistent narrative in public discourse that the Indian middle class is subjected to a uniquely predatory tax regime. However, when we strip away the anecdotes and look at the hard data across G20 economies, a completely different picture emerges. We must look at the "Prosperity Multiple", the ratio of the tax-exemption threshold to Per Capita GDP. This metric reveals the true fiscal entry point for a citizen relative to the nation's average income. In the developed world (the so-called "Global North"), the fiscal philosophy is explicitly designed to widen the tax base as early as possible. - In the United States, the state begins taxing citizens when they earn just ~18% of the average national income. - In the UK, the threshold is ~28%. Essentially, these economies operate on a model where if you are earning a living wage, you are paying income tax. The net is cast wide and deep. The Indian OutlierContrast this with India. The data shows India is a massive statistical outlier, standing at 5.32x. India is the only G20 economy that allows its citizens to earn more than five times the per capita GDP before they enter the direct tax net.The gap between India (#1) and Argentina (#2) is not just a margin; it is a structural chasm. To contextualise this for an international audience: If the United States adopted India’s tax threshold ratios, an American citizen would not pay a single dollar in income tax until they earned approximately $476,000 annually.

Simple but harsh truth most Indians don't want to pay taxes. Most people want European level services but want to pay taxes at Indian level. You get what you pay for. Not the other way around. But people don't understand that.

I have seen some of my friends wishing they could pay 0 taxes. And then at the same time saying they wish our government would provide free healthcare, free education, UBI, etc. Without realising how self contradictory their statements/wishes are.

This is primary reason the government has to resort to regressive taxation methods like indirect taxation. Even then if you compare us to China. Our overall indirect tax rate is less than China after GST.

But it is fine too much taxation can be harmful too. And can tank growth. So, i guess we are doing fine.

Port-to-power conglomerate Adani Group is interested in restarting the Formula 1 race at the Buddh International Circuit (BIC) in Greater Noida, Karan Adani, the MD of Adani Cement said on Saturday.

The BIC was built and owned by the Jaypee Group (specifically Jaiprakash Associates Ltd (JAL)/Jaypee Sports International Ltd). However, due to significant financial distress and non-payment of dues, the land was subject to takeovers by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) around 2019.

The Adani Group is in the fray to buy the troubled JAL, the flagship company of the Jaypee Group. In November 2025, the Adani Group won the majority lenders' vote for takeover of debt-laden Jaiprakash Associates as its Rs 14,535-crore acquisition proposal included a higher upfront payment than rival bidders.

According to official sources, Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya recently visited the circuit and held talks with officials from YEIDA.

The F1 race was held in 2011, 2012 and 2013 at the Buddh Circuit before being halted due to a tax dispute with the Uttar Pradesh government, which said the event was entertainment and not a sport.

The Union Health Ministry is set to launch a nationwide Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination programme targeting girls aged 14 years. The vaccination will be voluntary and free of cost, ensuring equitable access across socio-economic groups.

India will use Gardasil, a quadrivalent HPV vaccine, for protection from HPV types 16 and 18, which cause cervical cancer, as well as types 6 and 11. “Global and Indian scientific evidence confirms that a single dose provides robust and durable protection when administered to girls in the recommended age group,’’ a senior Health Ministry official said.

“The nationwide programme will target girls aged 14 years, an age at which the HPV vaccine offers maximum preventive benefit, well before potential exposure to the virus,” the official said.

To ensure uninterrupted availability and quality, India has secured HPV vaccine supplies through a transparent, globally supported procurement mechanism.

This is the internal take of the INC on the entire geopolitical upheaval taking place in ME. I have stated this before- there are smaller parties in India that are better at politics than them.

Two days after Mr. Modi celebrated his visit to Israel, Israel and the US have begun their joint assault on Iran. This was fully expected given their military build-up in the last few months. Mr. Modi nevertheless chose to go to Israel, where he displayed the highest moral cowardice. He declared that India stood with Israel and got himself an award for saying so. This Israel visit was shameful and it is even more so in light of the war that has been launched by two of Mr. Modi’s 'good friends.’

Muslim Votes. Khameni enjoys substantial support among Indian Muslims.

Yesterday, I was shocked to see a college friend ( Well educated , pvt University, heavy on western culture) posting in support of Khameni.

This is the state of "educated" muslims. Imagine the rest 90%
