Indian Missiles and Munitions Discussion

Have you even seen the size of Gaurav LRGB ? How are you even going to propel that with a such a small ramjet.

Jet powered bomb with HSLD-250 warhead already in development.

I am not worried about the ramjet motor for the size of the missile. Like Gaurav, we have the technology with us, so we can modify accordingly, but the main issue is to activate the ramjet, it needs to travel at least Mach 2 like the artillery shell, which was talked about in that YouTube video. That's the complexity when you drop an open from a fighter; we may need to create a flight profile and a solid motor to reach Mach 2.

Why not use the same motor in the Gaurav glide bomb or range extension kit for extended range?

Ramjet motors cannot be activated from standstill or from subsonic speeds, also ramjets work efficiently only from Mach 3.
Since Gaurav is essentially a unpowered Glide bomb, you would have to strap a clunky rocket motor onto it for it to reach supersonic speeds so that the ramjet can go active.
Rather than this jugadu approach which might not results as intended, its better to have powered glide bomb and leave ramjets for A2A missiles, SCMs, artillery shells.

Is this for Air Launched LR-LACM?
Some lru are common esp for pcb, actuation in some cases like rudram where flight is in high mach no. There are a variety of ALM in development.
What I wanted to mean is below part, why many missile systems that are of very high speed functioning face challenge wrt the guidance packaging system we use.

Datalink between fleet destroyers and INS Vikrant to Mig 29K must be strong and reliable cuz Mig 29K ain't shooting shit with that garbage piece of metal supposed to be its radar that Russia scammed us with. So we are gonna have to rely on Vikrant and destroyer radars as well as sat comms to talk with other assets.
The Vendor OEM certificate was never renewed post 2019, so IN and local industries have had all the time and flexibility in the world to tinker with the radar to ensure it's failure rates aren't as bad as they used to be.

In case any doubt, this is usually for user trial like case, or a limited procurement. This is not by drdo, rather by BDL. Helina is for army. This indicates army has integrated it and further likely to test or put in use. We knew army has helina all done for over a year now. You have to train people so they can use it. Even without a mass order, small lsp batch can be inducted in silence by the user, esp with current EPC many things can be done.

Helina initially would be likely for the Rudra WSI, not for LCH which is in support role and numbers only 5.
