They didn't even start the project. They imported the Israeli Arrow system, which has been offered to us long back.
All high-end imports are not substitute for indigenous systems(S-400/500 & Kusha, Su-60MKI & AMCA etc), rather they work as complimentary to each other. Not only our BMD will survive but its footprint will continue to grow until that point where its coverage reaches pan India. Also apart from land-based BMD, we'll even have the aegis of formidable sea-based BMD too doing the job for us. Don't worry.
Keeping fingers crossed. I do believe everyone in the govt. understands the importance of keeping Kusha/AD-AH fully self-reliant and funded and avoid killing it for some S500+EuroBMD solution.
BMD is a strategic system............ stategic systems usually dont get imported.
We did try to import from Israel only for Uncle Sam to veto it heralding a new era of our own BMD development.
It was a strategic system in 2002, not anymore. Unless you mean something like GBI
Yes, tech evolves with time but Uncle Sam will ensure that we'll never ever acquire their top of the line tech. That's why indigenous solution is the best way forward.
I think the news only meant to say some missile was fired again today, doesn't not necessarily mean it was BMD phase-2 test (though I'm hoping it were)

The first missile doesn’t look like AD-2.
2nd missile is AAD and 3rd is NASM-MR.
Looks like AD-2 design has changed or else this is another interceptor missile.

It's definitely not AAD, even the radome is different, similar to AD-1. Maybe they have redesigned AD-1. However, there is a bit of flare-up below the mid-body fins if you look closely, it's mostly hidden by the canister plank things.
Another consideration is that AAD can only engage targets of up 1500km-class.
Also, that's the same launcher they are gonna be using for LRLACM

Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully demonstrated multiple crucial technologies bolstering the nation’s defence capabilities against different types of enemy threats. Three consecutive flight-tests were conducted on June 10 & 11, 2026 to demonstrate multi-layered defence against long range ballistic missiles and anti-ship capability at medium range.
Multi-layered Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) capability was successfully demonstrated. The interceptors successfully engaged their respective targets. The systems are designed and developed with latest technologies to address the emerging missile threats.
These tests have put the country in the elite group of nations having BMD capability to engage up to Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles. The maiden flight-test of the Naval Anti-Ship Missile-Medium Range (NASM-MR) was also carried out successfully. The flight-tests were witnessed by senior officials of DRDO and Defence Forces.
Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh has congratulated DRDO on successfully demonstrating these crucial technologies.
Secretary, Department of Defence R&D and Chairman DRDO Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh closely monitored the trials and applauded the combined efforts of DRDO and industry.

AAD can only engage targets at an max altitude of 25 km (officially stated) or upto 30 km (from unconfirmed presentation slides)
AD-1 is vastly superior and can engage at a much higher altitude (50-70 km)
