So most MGS and tracked SPH systems are manually loaded by 1 or 2 loaders or is semi-automatic like ATAGS. But some of the latest designs are fully automatic.

Known tracked SPHs are Soko's K9A2, Russia's 2S35 and Iran's Raad-2.

Known MGS are Sweden's Archer (21 shells), and Serbia's MGS25 Aleksander (12 shells).

The Archer in particular is an MRSI champ, it can fire 6 shells, so all 6 can hit the ground at the same time. K9 only does 3 rounds. That's one of the main benefits of a fully automatic system.
We could just license produce the Archer design. We already have the fh/77 Bofors designs. The gun tech is with us. Just need the autoloader and the vehicle. Saab makes a lot of reliable and battle proven tech. Archer would be an amazing edition.

Yeah, it's a no-brainer. All other systems are practically a generation behind.

But it's possible the IA may favour an ATAGS-based MGS for the current requirement, with a focus on an Mk2 version later on. The towed gun requirement may go the same way, with 300 ATAGS Mk1 and any number of a lighter ATAGS Mk2 in the mid 2030s, with ATHOS acting as a stopgap.

There's interest in the 155mm MArG as well.

There was a RFI sometimes back asking for conversion of legacy towed 105mm into MGS.

Not a conversion, but an outright purchase of a Garuda V2 equivalent, a 105mm gun on a 4x4. The requirement seems to be a minimum of 7-8 regiments, 1 for each mountain corps.

A lot of deals are leaked as PR , almost 4-5 years worth must be due to election time. Realistically what can pass in next 6 months into a contract?

@ashvin before giving your bafoon smiley, go and see what was the original MGS requirements by IA. This 200 mgs probably a miss reporting by ANI, it most likely 200 additional sph.

In 2019, just before declaring union election there a news surfaced about manufacturing unit is going to set up in amethi for AK203. The news was like factory is setting up, as if deal is signed. It took another 4 years to start production in India.

That was a jv case, ie dependence on foreign govt , several inter-govt procedures to go through, and it has come to fruition already now. These deals are all domestic orders & mostly indigenous tech, different case.
