Indian Air Force : Updates & Discussions

How

How much Truth is in this tweet?

They left out Mirage 2000-5 aircraft type, which we upgraded recently with R400 type radar..
Jaguar already getting Israel Elta Aesa radar.
Mig21 going to retire.

Only mig 29 & Su 30 are left out.

Even mig 29 during upg had new radars I think.. And we are not making it in India..
We need to depend OEM for support.

Only this I am doubtful, anyways we are going retire it early including Mig 29K.

what makes you thik so? did we not maintain CAP and five minute ORPs? We were ready for everything and had aniticipated all their actions.
CAP was definitely will be there even without intelligence input, because last night we did a bombing run on Pakistan. I am asking did IAF miss the intelligence a possible attack from Mushaf airbase? If not what made IAF to think that a pair of MKI flying far away from LOC at low altitude will stop such a massive aerial campaign from PAF?

Prior to Feb 27 , We had Ex Gagan Shakti

It was about An All Out Two Front War

But we had never prepared for a Skirmish like Scenario

Add to it the Absence of Better BVRAAMs and SDRs

Tactically also we didn't anticipate
That they will fire Aim 120 from Inside their own territory

In A One Off Skirmish like Situation ,They can always send
A 30 plane package in just One Sector

The Answer lies in Massive Retaliation

We could have used the Ex Gaganshakti experience and put it to work after 27 Feb

Both 27 Feb And Chinese Stand off have only helped us in our future challenges

But Pakistanis did achieve something to Boast for a long time

Few thousand dollar drone vs machine costing millions

We already faced it from Pakistan. Drones in Airbase. That was our wakeup call for quickly churning out drone soft kill systems.

Not all airbases are covered, but we are in the process. Also 30 units each have been deployed in Punjab and Jammu sector each along the border.

We are not there yet, but I think in a couple of years , our critical infrastructure will be protected from these.

PS: Pakistanis did it against us. Ukrainians did it against Russians. Both have UK/US support in common. UK and US are now using the tactics used against India through Pakistan.

The Russians are extremely stupid to have exposed their valuable aircraft like this in spite of what they've faced this last yr . It's speculated that this was the dry run before the actual attack which followed . And as you can well see leave aside physical barriers, there was nothing by way of shelters too . That could have made some difference.

The IAF definitely needs to get it's act together. For Pakistan to strike in such a manner it doesn't need a war . They can always do so claiming action by non state actors . Then we'd get into tit for tat mode . We're already seeing what is happening in the proxy Iran vs rest of Gulf Arab states conflict .

@Hydra likes to call all Russian weapons as junk. Last time I debunked him by using 1971 war as example of how well Mig-21 performed and swatted PAF American made fighters.

Now, here is confirmation where IAF themselves call Mig-21 as "hero of the 1971 war" :

@Hydra get your facts right.
Obviously they have to call. If not them who else will? Its similar to the action by every air marshals flying inside that junk to pull the esteem of young fighter pilots.

Dragging Mig-21 for too long is definitely a mistake. But it has been a wonderful fighter for IAF is also undeniable. Try hard.
