Take whatever this Deino guy posts with a pinch of salt . He's a Chinese bot masquerading as an European with an interest in Chinese stuff. Used to be a moderator in P D F . May still be there . @Rajput Lion
Most definitely. But still a source regarding J-20 and its development nonetheless.Take whatever this Deino guy posts with a pinch of salt . He's a Chinese bot masquerading as an European with an interest in Chinese stuff. Used to be a moderator in P D F . May still be there . @Rajput Lion
No if we entered the project we already would be operating FGFA. Russian planning was to use Indian money to fund their project, we realised this game and pulled out. Now that Russia has completed the development we may go for Su-57M or HAL made Su-57MKI(hopefully Su-60MKI).
Did you watch the picture I posted where it showed two different airframes for single-seat J-20? One with raised spine(latest) and one with flat spine.
If Russian engined version was A, then WS-10 version would be B. This new version with raised spine may be the C version(or upgraded B version) with WS-15.
No one in open source media knows more about J-20 or PLAAF than this guy. Read his tweet:
Different fuselage. They have also introduced a 2-seat fighter version as well.
Type-30 is now almost ready. In fact going into production from next year or early 2025.FGFA required the Russians finishing PAK FA first. The engine is not ready even today. Had we started FGFA, we would have been sitting around like the Americans with the F-35, we would have continued paying more and more for the development delays.
So already 3 variants, A/B/S. Absolutely superfast development. The one with the new spine design is now being called J-20B.
Two-seater will get an S designation.

My point was that, had we not got out of FGFA project, we also could have started getting delivery of Su-57M/FGFA from 2025 onwards. And by 2030 we would have had a strong force of 5 gen fighters along with Rafale and MKI upgrade.
Then we could have parity with the Chinese. Now they have nosed ahead thanks to J-20 and its super fast development/deployment/production.

Also that 2-seat variant is going to be fully combat-coded version. Our FGFA was supposed to be the first heavy-weight stealth fighter with 2-seats. But the Chinese have even got here first.
140 FGFA and 200 Rafales were absolutely required upto 2030. Anybody denying that is closing their eyes to the gravest Chinese/2 front threat, IMHO.
Had we signed the deal in 2014, by 2024-25 we would have started to induct them in service. Even an uncooked Su-57M would eat a J-20 alive. Look at this image:FGFA development was 8 years long, and this included 3 years for MKIzation after the engine was ready. And then 3 more years after production.
Had we entered FGFA, we would have paid a lot more and would possibly have received the first jet only a year or two earlier. It wouldn't be in time for a war.
I did that on another thread. @Mods can you please search that thread.
Unlike exercises with other countries, when India goes to Russia, we do not take our equipment, we use their equipment. Their rifles, their tanks, their fighters and their tactics ballistic missiles.Had we signed the deal in 2014, by 2024-25 we would have started to induct them in service. Even an uncooked Su-57M would eat a J-20 alive. Look at this image:
Can our Rafale-I take on J-20B(if they have WS-15 supercrusing engines)? Same question for MKI(post upgrade), or do we need Su-57M to take on PLAAF and J-20 in particular?I did that on another thread. @Mods can you please search that thread.
Only area where Su-35 is ahead of our MKI is in kinematic performance(better climb, better acceleration etc.). MKI is anyday a better plane than Su-35. Russians themselves have ordered more Su-30SM than Su-35S and are soon going to upgrade it with Su-35S' engines. With that Su-35 will lose its only advantage over SM/MKI.But the point being IAF flew Su35 and Su57 both. If both weren't bought, it's because they weren't better than our Su30MKI in performance. The year our guys flew Su35, same year our guys blew up things with Iskanders and S400. S400 impressed us and we bought it.
Forget about the West/Israel etc., I said elsewhere that we are about to leap-frog the Russians in Air to air AESA/GaN tech.Just for comparison the smaller AESA of Jaguar DARIN III will be more capable than AESA Russians are offering for Mig29/35.
IAF, if you have paid heed, doesn't like AL-41F1(F1S too) or Su-35. IAF has always wanted Type-30 engines. One of the objectives of FGFA program was to upgrade Su-30MKI with this new engine.Serviciablity of AL31FP which we all do not like, is 2.5 times better and cheaper than AL41 when we flew it. That's why IAF is not really wanting to jump for an engine change in Super Sukhoi upgrade.
Thanks to 10 years of morbid rule by UPA, China nosed ahead of us in every parameter. But now we've slowly but surely started to catch-up and draw level. Just need more focus by the gov. in defence to deter and eventually vanquish the 2.5 front.
This is what I was referring to earlier in my arguments with RST who was laughing it out a few months ago , where we should be working on including developing counters against & as usual China's already ahead of us .
This could well prove to be a game changer on those cliffs where things may well boil down to a cliff for cliff & ridge for ridge fight after all the artillery , rockets , TBMs are fired , all the fighters have dropped their payload , established partial air superiority , accomplished some SEAD / DEAD etc . @Rajput Lion
