India–United Kingdom relations : Updates

The problem stems from the fact that the movement of people was ever mislabelled as 'trade'. It's like describing the arrival of flesh-eating bacteria on a human's body as trade. There's no possible way that the nation with the higher living costs can benefit from it.

Sovereign assurances of the kind India furnished in cricket bookie Sanjeev Chawla’s extradition case are likely to be sought from the US government, which is seeking the extradition of Dawood Ibrahim’s aide Jabir Motiwala from United Kingdom. The assurances relate to human rights not being violated in jails, if extradited. The Chawla case was often mentioned during a hearing in the Westminster Magistrates Court on Friday. The issue of human rights in the Islamic cleric Abu Hamza’s extradition to the US was also cited.

Motiwala’s defence team has raised the issue of his mental health and reported suicide attempts, among other reasons, to resist extradition. If he is subjected to “special administrative measures” in US jails, it would violate Article 3 of the Human Rights Act, it has contended. Witnesses on behalf of Motiwala, 51, have deposed in the court, alleging inhumane and degrading conditions in US jails. The Crown Prosecution Service informed the court that it is likely to oppose seeking the assurance from US, but the judge informed both sides he would rule on this after receiving their written submissions by August 19. Next hearing in the case is on July 22.

The problem is actually the ECHR. There have been lots of people we've wanted to deport, or simply drop in the Atlantic + concrete, but the ECHR is always on our backs.

Too much bureaucracy never gets anything done. Couple that with the irrational sensitivities of trying to not appear to be Islamophobic and you end up in the current EU's position. US is a lot better in some of these aspects.

Could you for once do something without trying to drag us into it? Because it doesn't help either of us.

Unlike Britain, and other Western countries, we have no historical baggage with regard to barbaric violations of human rights through external conquests, colonialism, racial discrimination, slavery and genocide of indigenous populations. Currently, Britain has participated in the destruction of Iraq, Libya and Syria, inflicting untold miseries on local populations. It should be careful in taking the moral high ground on human rights issues with India. Worse, Raab has insidiously introduced UNSC resolutions on the Kashmir issue in his statement by claiming that “as recognised in UN Security Council resolutions and the Simla Agreement”, India and Pakistan have to fundamentally resolve the Kashmir “dispute”, forgetting that the UNSC resolutions were structured around UN mediation; that even as late as 1961, Britain formally intervened in the Kashmir issue along with the US, and that the Simla Agreement excludes UN or any third-party role.
Well that's a big pile of BS. Cholas, Anti-Sikh riots, multi-sectarian massacres, caste system, widow-burning..... It's not like the local populations in Iraq, Libya and Syria were having a picnic under Saddam, Gaddafi and Assad either.

Bottom line, stop trying to drag us into it. And that applies to Pakistan as well as India. This is your problem, settle it with a good old fashion war and stop behaving like 12 y/os and getting your parents involved.

If I am not mistaken it was British politicians that poked their nose into it. We didn't invite you much rather drag UK into the issue, your leaders did. The way out is the same they came way in. Please tell them to show themselves out.

Besides its an article in the media. How many anti-India articles does the English media publish in a week ? compared to that this is nothing. You guys cant take one ? Come one be a good sport.

Look, everyone knows that when you interfere with the geopolitical structure you create an unpolished turd, which upsets the recipient of said turd, which in this case is Pakistan. Now if the US and UK really had an opinion, one of two things would happen: Either you would be hit by a raft of crippling economic sanctions; Or a raft of cruise missiles and have many aircraft carriers parked off your coast. Since neither of these two things has happened, rest assured that we don't really have an opinion. But sometimes it is necessary to pretend to have an opinion in order to polish the raw turd alluded to earlier. And it is also helpful for a few of your idiots, e.g. _Anonymous_, Thardoor etc. to complain about the polishing in order to make our opinion seem genuine and improve the saleability of said turd..

So now that we're clear on everyone's role in this game, can we move along please?

You'll have to take it out of the cow first.
