Chinese Wuhan Virus Thread

A friend of mine went all the way to Nagpur from Mumbai to tend to his ailing mother y'day. It took him 26 hours for a journey not more than 10-11 hours without stoppage . Apparently the Mumbai Nashik section which shouldn't take more than 4 hours on a regular day but even less considering this is a lockdown took a whopping 11-12 hours to complete coz the entire stretch was filled with thousands of migrant workers returning home to the North & east jamming the entire route.Apparently , It's been on since the end of last month. You won't see any MSM cover this event

This is extremely sad .. I saw picture of a migrant worker who after walking for eleven days, when was just close to his village, passed away in sleep overnight walking on a highway. It was sad to see such a scene of an individual who sacrifices the company of his loved ones - wife, children, parents and family, to earn and send money back home to make them live. And when he thinks that instead of earning he will now have to live by spending out of his savings or out of debt, he attempts the risk of undertaking an unimaginable marathon walk back to his home. It seems he was the unlucky one whose will power and determination proved him wrong. My obeisance and homage to all such 50 odd souls who succumbed on their way back home.

This is one very incorrect decision MODI took. India was very safe on March 25 with minimal number of cases. Instead of implementing a Demonetization style cut-off, there was need to understand the psyche and thinking and economic hardships of migrant labor. Modi should have given 3 days time for anyone and every one to move to their villages if they wanted with a communication that looking at the precedence of other countries, the lockdown series may get extended. Along with he should have provided extra trains to absorb the surge in demand for travel on specific routes.

I am sure, Modi in his heart must be repenting for this mistake.

I have been called up by my research and development center n number of times to start working from center itself rather than working from home.

I got my pass, and will be traveling from easternmost part of Maharashtra to Navi Mumbai which is a hot zone.

But, I believe we will have to face COVID 19 some day rather than fleeing away from it. There will be some day when government will have to reluctantly open all services..

Initial idea was to keep the people where they are and state government taking care of them ? I still remember how KCR talked in hindi and listing out his measures to take care of migrant workers .

“We will supply 12-kg rice or wheat flour free of cost and give ₹500 per person. Rice or wheat flour and financial assistance will be given to them even if they dont have ration card

Now they are paying wages and getting back migrants

UP:

When kejriwal pushed out all the migrants UP government arranged transport and isolation facilities to take care of them

Central goverment :

3.4 Lakh migrant workers are now transported

Except Maharashtra why no other state is having such pathetic state of migrants walking in Highways with no food and water ? the whole lockdown decision cant be blamed because of one incompetent buffoon called UT

It may sound cruel, but it’s not appropriate to sleep on the railway tracks, right in the middle of highways ,electricity poles, and airstrips.
These places are not meant for that purpose even if you don’t have anywhere else, just few feet away from the tracks could have saved their lives.
These people refused to use common sense and paid the heavy price

Why would you be so keen to share what your family's going thru here, Paddy ?
