How do indian SSBNs like the newest S4 and future S5 class subs compare to Chinese Type 094 or the new Type 096 , perhaps a comparison to the french ones would be good..

Indian SSBN are much quieter than Chinese Nuclear subs by a whole generation & the upcoming S-5 will be on par with their western counterparts.

How? Chinese have been building nuclear subs since the 70s tho it was an attack sub but the reactor tech is mostly the same ig.

So what if China started building submarines before India ? Does that automatically make China ahead of India ? According to whom, You ?.... There is plenty of open source data on the acoustic noise (dB) levels of Chinese submarines, including their latest generation boats. The Akula class submarine leased to India by Russia was more than 3 decades ahead of China's best nuclear submarines in terms of acoustic stealth. All Arihant class submarines built after the ATV prototype have achieved Akula level quieting, if not better. Simply building submarines earlier does not automatically translate into superior submarine technology or overall capability.
