Brexit and Future of UK : Discussions

This is the main difference between Leavers and Remainers. Remainers assume that absolutely no EU exports to the UK can be replaced by the UK internal market following the application of tariffs and NTBs. Leavers believe they can. Can't do vs can do attitude.

Leavers like Dyson have claimed they will make London the Sinapore on Thames....that kind of makes sense.....

I'd love to see UK reinvent the wheel by trying to rebuild the manufacturing sector. I'm sure the indigenous talent pool in the UK is enormous. Failing which, you can always attract highly educated / skilled immigrants apart from investment. In which case, it begs the innocent question - why did Brexit happen?
For vehicles, it will simply be a case of, either you make cars here in the UK, or your vehicle imports to us will face full tariffs and a costly SVA test for every single vehicle.

And if you impose tariffs on imported vehicles, EU will reciprocate along with NTB's. As it is the TATA owned Jaguar/ Land Rover is reporting a loss. It's anyone's guess what follows in the event of a no deal Brexit.

Congratulations @BMD. The Irish finally have their revenge. Since they couldn't match the brain power of their former landlords, they've somehow managed to bring down the collective IQ's of the UK.

Revenge is sweet, eh Mick? ;)

Britain will retaliate by becoming a great tariff power

and this is the summation of the sh1t the likes of you have created - now read and absorb and then climb under the rock you and your bumchums live under......

Dear Britons.

Before you escalate your phony civil war over your Brexit scam, kindly assess your reality. In Europe we hardly care for your adored tribal wars, but we do not want a failed state at our borders.
The democratic deficit in the UK is due to the simple fact you never bothered to take the necessary showdown with your medieval ruling class. Neither in terms of a political revolution and a contemporary written constitution nor in terms of personal submission to your betters. You never took responsibility for your future, but always tried to please your Lords and maybe become one of them, or just be a bit posher or better paid than other serfs.

You never learned to live without the free money looted from your colonies. Losing your colonies only made you turn to looting your own society and your own future. That’s the essence of your 40 years of Thatcherite economy. You have constantly been running a trade deficit for many decades, and thus constantly sell off UK assets of all kinds to finance the deficit, every year.
That’s willingly colonizing your own nation.

Now you have allowed the UK to be plundered and pawned, and your own most spoiled generations only got a tiny share of the loot. You are unable to uphold your society without heavy influx of foreign investments in your future and foreigners to do the work, be they educated specialists, well trained craftsmen or merely fruit pickers. You have lost generations and large regions to undereducation and underinvestment in your infrastructure and industries, indebted your youth, made housing unaffordable, and made yourself a colony of your own 0,1% extremely rich Lords, hiding their loot in tax havens. It is your homeless UK citizens dying in your streets, it is your UK children malnourished, you are even eager to plunder each other with buy to let schemes on your housing market.

Submissive serfs and cowards have no right to blame other nations for your inadequacies, no matter how “secure” you imagine your personal situation is. As long you still vote for your feudal lords and willingly buy their scams you are a sorry lot.

Should the UK ever collectively grow a pair and take responsibility for yourself and each other, then you are welcome to cooperate or even disagree with your equals in Europe. But until then, just fix your broken and failed society and show us you have some responsibility, pride and dignity.

This is the second time of me posting this - last time you avoided it and buried your head - this time let it sink in. Have a good day btw.

I see _Anonymous_ has been busy writing again. Sadly this addresses none of the points I've made and again tries to reintroduce colonisation to a thread where it does not belong but a few points.

1) There is no democratic deficit here. The turnout at the last general election and the Brexit referendum was over 70%. The turnout for the last EU election was just over 40%.

2) The problem isn't the lack of free money from UK colonies, it's the contribution of our money to the large waste of space parked across the channel.

3) Underinvestment? I agree. We should be investing the money we are giving to the EU in the UK instead. Ditto for a lot of foreign aid.

4) We have grown a pair, we have decided to stop socialising the failed European project and instead look after ourselves despite the various economic threats put forward by the under-worked and overpaid.

Then you don’t share in the vision of making London the Singapore on thames
My vision is to concede London as a loss, build a large dome around it and use it as an unregulated prison, a bit like on the film Escape from Los Angeles.

And we do not care because there are 2.3 million cars exported from the EU to the UK, but only 800k exported the other way.
https://www.acea.be/statistics/article/motor-vehicle-trade-between-the-uk-and-main-eu-partners
I.e. British-based TATA owned JLR will have 3x the market size to replace inside the UK, as it loses in the EU.;)

I wasn't a bit wrong in deriding you. Lets examine your argument.

If, in the current scheme of things, JLR can't survive, what makes you think, they'd be able to carry on post Brexit? If the UK is thriving on the imports of cars from the EU, they'd continue to do so , irrespective of the tarrifs. In which case, most of the indigenous car manufacturers would see more sense in setting up shop in mainland Europe and gradually wind down operations in the UK.

By being able to UK run factories to full capacity to replace the EU imports coming in and therefore having less waste.

That makes no sense at all when the market opportunity in the UK, as a result of frozen EU imports, will be 3 times larger than the market UK-based manufacturers had in Europe. The figures speak for themselves - 2,300,000 vs 800,000.

Brady Amendment creates a binding rejection of the backstop but also show parliament is not in favour of no deal, however the latter is not binding. A series of amendments have been sent back to Brussels including the removal of the backstop. Failure to accept them will default to no deal. Further bills voted against a second referendum and extending the deadline.

MPs reject move to delay Brexit day

There used to be a time I used to miss Spitting Image. Not anymore. Even the creators of that iconic show couldn't dream up a script like this. It's high comedy. And to think the Irish aren't even present not caused this. Revenge is sweet, eh Paddy? To see the Brits self destruct like this and become a laughing stock of the world in the bargain.

What about economies of scale, Paddy? Does it make more sense to cater to a population of 60million Brits or does it make more sense to cater to the 300 million plus EU? You had your chance to reform the manufacturing sector during the Thatcher years or shortly thereafter. She threw the baby out along with the bathwater. And now you're trying to reinvent the wheel. Good luck with that.

What he doesnt realise is the UK is fast becoming insignificant in the global world. The Rees Moggs et al still need a wake up call that they are not an empire and no one gives a sh1t.
They wanted to leave - fukt about for 2 years and now want to continue humiliating themselves on the international stage. Parliament has become Spitting Image.......

Again...BMD is not a farmer. In anyway UK is not known for rice cultivation.

I'm afraid GB will have its special hard Brexit...
Time is arrived to pay for all the entorses GB politics exiged from EU...

Good by England.
Thank you so much for your very appreciated help in WW1 and WW2 (I'm serious).
Now you just have nearly 5000km swiming to reach the US coasts.
And then you will really be at home.
As a servant of uncle Sam.
Snif.

If the 60m Brits are going to be buying more of your cars because EU manufactured cars have been closed out of their market then yes.

We already have car manufacturing here, just a matter of expanding it to cater for the 2.3m vehicle market sector that was occupied by EU imports.
