Pakistan Armed Forces - News & Discussions

So, no real evidence of test. Its unlikely to be ready anytime soon. Its from an unproven chinese company. It will need a lot of testing time.
Its also a sold fuel based ramjet, so its ability to throttle and energy retention in complex trajectories is questionable compared to liquid ramjet brahmos.

Basically a cheap export oriented Ramjet missile.
Its seeker & ECCM performance is currently unknown.

My technical 2 cents on Pakistani Fatah 3 (HD1A)

The limitation of most Solid Fuel Ramjet based supersonic cruise missiles is not peak velocity but terminal energy management.
✅ Restricted throttling authority,
✅ grain regression constraints and
✅ limited combustion modulation degrade sustained specific excess power during high-G terminal weaving.

⚠️ Against a maneuvering naval target this translates into lower endgame kinematic agility, reduced post-turn energy retention and comparatively poorer no-escape envelope expansion.

⚠️ Similarly because of these interception becomes easier.

A liquid-fuel ramjet powered system like BrahMos maintains superior throttle response, sustained dynamic pressure and better energy recovery during terminal sea-skimming maneuvers enabling sharper evasive profiles, higher terminal maneuver authority and better seeker stabilization under aggressive lateral loading.

Speed alone doesn’t define survivability. Endgame energy dominance does.
But then it will still be effective againt ground target.

Idk if it can fo any type of groud hugging like brahmos , if it can then it is definitely most potent missile in pakistani service for ground attack

Yeah, but its not brahmos peer, near peer at best.

A cheap supersonic cruise missile, more similar to our STAR missile.

1. Propulsion and Flight Mechanics
The HD-1 utilizes a two-stage propulsion system to maintain high speeds and maneuverability:

  • Stage 1: A solid rocket motor provides the initial thrust for launch.
  • Cruise Stage: It employs a Variable Flow Ducted Rocket Motor (VFDRM), also referred to as a solid ramjet.
  • Penetration: The missile achieves "strong penetration" by adjusting gas flow to allow for maneuvering flight at high velocities.
2. Technical Specifications
The following metrics define the physical and operational constraints of the HD-1 system:

MetricSpecification
Nominal Weight2500 kg
Theoretical Length6600 mm
Maximum Standard Range290 km
Nominal Diameter (Stage 1)650 mm
Nominal Diameter (Cruise Stage)375 mm
3. Guidance and Combat Effectiveness
The system is equipped with multiple guidance modes to ensure high accuracy across different mission profiles:

  • Ground Targets: Uses a combination of INS + Satellite (yielding a Circular Error Probable, or CEP, <=15m) or INS + Satellite + IR (<=5m).
  • Sea Targets: Utilizes INS + Satellite + Active Radar, which provides a single-shot hit probability of 85%.
  • Attack Modes: The missile is capable of performing top attacks at large impact angles or sea-skimming attacks to strike targets effectively.
  • Warhead Options: It can be fitted with either a penetration warhead or a blast fragmentation warhead.
4. Operational Deployment
The HD-1 is designed for high mobility and rapid response:

  • Launch Platform: The system uses a vehicle-mounted, quadruple-launcher that utilizes an oblique canister-type hot launch mode.
  • Maintenance: It features an integrated "one button" launch capability, where the launch canister serves for storage, transportation, and firing.

So if its true then it can throttle like liquid fuel ranjet and can definitely be as much lethal as brahmos

Underestimating enemy is lethal (rks bhaduria sir mentioned that they did not expected paf to have 200+ km pl15 )

In this last two days, militants are aggressively targeting pakistan forces,
There have been 3 & more attacks today, IED, suicide bombing, mining,etc...
Militants are on Total offensive, this year will break all the records, it gonna be bloody year for Pakistanis,

It's their own doing. If they continue to harbour such extremist elements they will bite back.

it's a lesson they will never learn. They will never stop being a sponsor and therefore hotbed of extremism. Giving shelter and funding to extremists is too intertwined with their geopolitical objectives and I honestly wonder if extremist ideology hasn't started percolating up the official PA brass.

The training launch, conducted on the same day, was intended to “enhance operational efficiency of the troops and validate technical parameters of various subsystems incorporated for improved accuracy and enhanced survivability,” ISPR said.

It added, “Equipped with advanced avionics and state-of-the-art navigational aids, [Fatah-IV] is capable of engaging long-range targets with high precision.” ISPR did not elaborate.

Fatah-IV was unveiled at a military event in August 2025, commemorating Pakistan's Independence Day. Information about the weapon displayed at the event stated that it has a range of 750 km, a maximum altitude of 50 m, a length of 7.5 m, and a weight of 1,530 kg.

According to this information, the missile features terrain-hugging flight characteristics intended to reduce radar detection, has a maximum speed of Mach 0.7, and is equipped with a 330 kg blast fragmentation conventional warhead.

Fatah-IV images published by news agencies in Pakistan at the time of unveiling suggests that it is a two-stage, solid-fuel-propelled subsonic missile featuring fin stabilisation. Janes analysis of the images suggests that the missile likely features GPS and a terrain-contour matching guidance system. The missile is also possibly equipped with an altimeter to enable its claimed terrain-hugging capability.

Fatah-IV is part of Pakistanʼs wider family of Fatah missiles manufactured by state-owned Global Industrial & Defence Solutions (GIDS). The family consists of Fatah-I, II, III, and IV. The Pakistan Army currently operates Fatah-I and II. The operational status of Fatah-III and IV is unclear.

They had this..... forever. like REALLY forever. Babar IIA missile is essentially this one. Its like if we test pralay and call it a new missile.

Both are same but the end users are different. Fatah 4 will be guided by TERCOM for conventional strikes which means China has provided Pakistan the new terrain mapping.

The Chinese are aware of IACCS succes in May 2025.

The Beidou guidance to Iranian missiles wrecked havoc on GCC bases leased to US , so. they can do the same via Pak Army Rocket Force to target Indian assets.

Command centres like Barnala and SAM sites would be in their mind , given India up the ante by striking PAF centres and killing their officers.

Pak would not leave chance to do heavy damage using the toys and overwhelm IACCS

Terrain mapping is dime a dozen. I can vibe code TERCOM in 2 days and use commercial SAR data, fused with google earth height-map to achieve same guidance. DSMAC these days is 4 lines of python code. TERCOM and DSMAC is 80s tech and no longer something which a country needs help of another.

Terrain mapping guidance now days employs real time spatial analysis, and live feed to missile guidance prior to launch for last minute target acquisition, drone based oblique photogrammetry and etc.

They will not be wasting missiles on a barren air field.

You know, a single pass from PlanetLabs Dove can get all that data to find any change since last time. A generative neural network having past passes, height data and new pass can update data in matter of 10s of minutes.

Data of any kind these days is not a moat. This is no longer a strategic ability that nation states only had. Anyone with an account in PlanetLabs and few hundred dollars to purchase compute have it now.

Remember, in 80s, cruise missiles were able to hit window of a building while being guided by TERCOM and finally by DSMAC. That capability is now available for peanuts to anyone. Anyone can have 24 or less hours older higher resolution satellite images than those which are much higher resolution that US military in 80s and 90s had access to.

The primary source of terrain maps was KH-9 HEXAGON satellite. Also they used high altitude aircrafts doing survey and databases used by aircraft training simulators (which also have elevation maps). Its resolution was 90 cm. We have better resolution available in SkySat on a daily basis, to anyone who wants. Compute is too cheap and smarts are plenityful using AI. You can literally make TERCOM libraries of entire Pakistan right now sitting in your bedroom. And for few hundred dollars update it on a daily basis.

It is not about accessing data, it is about accessing the data confidentially. Spy agencies spend millions to get to know what data has been fed to the missiles and where they are directed. If you have seen the footage from last year where the Pakistanis were launching Fatah missile, then you would notice a team along with the launcher working on a fire control console to feed live data.

I was wondering have they acquired real time info from somewhere?
