i dont think there is any real DEW system out there in the world right now secret or not that has miniaturized to that extent.

As for the future idk, nobody expected AI to grow this big in like less than 5 years but here we are today. even then we might only see a DEW on board a transport aircraft or a heli or a Very large UAV but i doubt we get a DEW drone swarm any time soon. Its not even needed right now where drone swarms on their own are pretty good and hard to defeat and adding a DEW adds very little value comparatively.

What we will get is large scale DEWs on board ships like A/Cs and large destroyers. Hell even our own P18 is rumoured to get a DEW and it looks increasingly likely with all the developments india has made on DEWs. MW scale DEWs on land and high KW scale DEWs on large ships like the GRR ford class carrier or P18 or type 055(its sucessor) or the DDg(x) o maybe even the japanese 13k tonne class ship might get a DEW or railgun in the future.

A fighter aircraft based DEW is a long time away.
israeli airlines have adopted a modular DEW system to be fitted under their airlines for defense against rpgs during landing and take offs. thats one system i heard off.

Once you solve the huge power supply & cooling need many new fitments can happen. At present the existing systems are somewhat not fully optimised for every possible config. In future the ucav will have large power generating unit in a compact size, cooling process will be much more refined & more perfect than now. System design is done based on existing available cots resource or develop a better solution within acceptable timeline.

We will see a drone carried ew system in near future that is being worked on.

- What about a platform, let's say a ISTAR or AWACS size? It's a mobile AD in air. The role it can play is of a spearhead or a bastion. Thwarting threats through DEW, some interceptors, CIWS, drones as an interceptor.
Basically an AD mothership that penetrated defended Airspace.
A few of them along western/northern border, followed by squads of FA and UCAV for strike role.

Usually 5th gen stealth relies on low VLO and SEAD, DEAD.. to have a chance at penetrating a defended Airspace. Since stealth too has its limit, while advanced radars and networked AD is bound to make it difficult.

So, if you're relying on saturation, tactics, and many other scenario to strike deep.. maybe a brute approach instead? Perhaps a true 6th/7th gen doctrine when US&CHINA both find it hard to be stealthy against each other.

never heard of the israeli airlines thing. Ill look into it.

an AWACS type aircraft might have enough power for a DEW but then again idk how far along the world is in DEW tech but we still wont be able to put it on fighters for a decently long time now.

We should use these consortium capabilities to produce Tejas Mk2 too..

There was old news about IAF placing large orders so that Mk2 orders can be split into HAL & Private sector .

5.5 in terms of what though? Does it even have Distributed aperture system/EOTS?

If I am a designer in 2025 and I am planning a project which will role out in 2035-40 I will have ML and AI handling network agility and EW both defensive and offensive and mechanical actuator performance optimization and manufacturing to be AI driven.

I am not calling it a 6th Gen aircraft due to it's aerodynamic profile.

Agreed. AI, MUM-T, innovative concepts , network centre etc.. should be basics while designing and developing for a system to be inducted in 2040.

It can't rely on Mk2 version anymore and run blind in first iteration.

I have no knowledge of designs.. just quoted the tweet here for the bidders ..

Please let me the post where difference between old and new AMCA design is shown if possible..
The canopy looks bubble like of 4gen rather than blended of 5gen.
The trailing edges of wings, stabs, rudders & their hinges are or close to perpendicular.
The gear doors are rectangular.
The MLG seems to rotate forward increasing size of door, rather than fold inward laterally.
Round exhaust very bad.

More view angles needed to analyze further.

Have another doubt ,

AMCA mk1 will fly with F414, whereas Mk2 will fly with Safran JV engine, meaning JV engine will be drop fit , can be swapped with F414 right ?

That means even for Tejas Mk2 it can be swapped ?
