In L1 contract cost revision sometimes delays everything. You bid for lowest vendor and then some tech transfer to the vendor gets delayed and the cost goes up. And then you being a public entity you can't revise a cost so easily because it's tax payers' money as it reaches the cost presented by L2, L3 vendors in the list. Then the watchdogs get activated for checks on corruption etc.

Shall we have a poll on which consortia ( announced + potentially), public prefers here? @.admin?
yea we sorta know who is gonna bid for this.

HAL
L&T, BEL
Data patterns, Bharat Forge, BEML
TASL led ??
adani led ??
reliance led ??

of the lot i think L&T and BEL will emerge as the no1 while the TASL led consortium will come no2 and the data patterns consortium will be your secondary provider.

The others might even get the LCA mk2 if they fail to get the AMCA. the next 5 years are gonna be very very interesting for the IAF.

He is talking about placards being present there and being cut and edited in the video. My question why is there a placard at all considering the level of foreign intel activities in the past in DRDO, Air Force? The Arihant Project and the secrecy around it is something what the other institutions and wings must learn from Navy.
This is standard practice which they do for the VVIP visit like the cabinet ministers, SCOD, even DRDO own high rank scientist visit. Its like sop for them & without the posters display even the lab head who is describing the display items may struggle to name everything & its functionality. There are so many small parts & items, each lab work on 10s of projects & sub projects making many subsystems. So you need descriptive posters else common person won't know. The reporters were invited & unless special pass issued I think you need to submit a police verification certificate to get entry in the campus.

To be frank I really don't want anything to be in public domain regarding this project and away from political visits too, except for MoD and PMO. They know better what they are doing.

Will AMCA mark 2 have directed energy weapons?

I've seen **** quoting ADA head and Kota saying it but is there a video with timestamp anyone can share?

They say 5.5 gen jet but with only some AI integration I don't think you can say that.

if **** is meant to be I-D-R-W then what youve been reading is pure fantasy courtesy of the authors in that website.
LMAO DEW, even with the safran JV engine delivering upto 140KN its not gonna be nearly enough electrical power to get any sort of sensible DEW on that plane. Unless there is a quantum leap in DEW tech its not gonna be enough, ever.

What it could and prolly will have is a DIRCM which is also a laser but very different from a DEW. Its for confusing IR missiles and dual mode seekers of these said missiles. Its also significantly less powerfull and cannot even remotely come close to burning an actual missile.

Maybeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee the chinese j36 with 3 WS10Cs could have one cause assuming each of those generate 70KW-90KW of electrical power its going to be about 210-270KW of electrical power available. But DEWs havent gotten that small yet and scaling down cooling systems is not even remotely easy so its gonna be a long time before we see functioning DEWs on an aircraft. Maybe in the 2040s youll see the first 1-2 but not before that imo. And its not going to be India either LMAO. The j36 is going to need a HUGE amount of electrical power just to run that massive aircraft like a fighter bomber so prolly not on that platform.

I know they are fake news media but they quoted people on it so I got confused. Jesus, faking quotes is another level of fake news.

-What about UCAV specifically for DEW/EMP role, inside a swarm. Or flanking a FA. That UCAV doesn't have to have much other needs.. getting directions from FA or other drones if in a drone swarm.

- A drone swarm working as a defense shield? Hovering at extended periphery of our Chakra.. taking care of small rockets and drones?

Once you solve the huge power supply & cooling need many new fitments can happen. At present the existing systems are somewhat not fully optimised for every possible config. In future the ucav will have large power generating unit in a compact size, cooling process will be much more refined & more perfect than now. System design is done based on existing available cots resource or develop a better solution within acceptable timeline.

We will see a drone carried ew system in near future that is being worked on.

i dont think there is any real DEW system out there in the world right now secret or not that has miniaturized to that extent.

As for the future idk, nobody expected AI to grow this big in like less than 5 years but here we are today. even then we might only see a DEW on board a transport aircraft or a heli or a Very large UAV but i doubt we get a DEW drone swarm any time soon. Its not even needed right now where drone swarms on their own are pretty good and hard to defeat and adding a DEW adds very little value comparatively.

What we will get is large scale DEWs on board ships like A/Cs and large destroyers. Hell even our own P18 is rumoured to get a DEW and it looks increasingly likely with all the developments india has made on DEWs. MW scale DEWs on land and high KW scale DEWs on large ships like the GRR ford class carrier or P18 or type 055(its sucessor) or the DDg(x) o maybe even the japanese 13k tonne class ship might get a DEW or railgun in the future.

A fighter aircraft based DEW is a long time away.
