I don't believe this is connected to the USA or Trump. This discussion has been happening for years with Safran and Rolls Royce. After spending a lot of money on business trips and countless hours of discussions, we reached this conclusion. It might be announced now due to the tariff battle between India and the USA, but this decision was bound to come out eventually. The decision was made by considering best possibilities from both the bidders Safran and RR.Please, let US not forget the contribution of Mr. Trump. We must give him his due thanks for his successfull push to out MoD to fast-track the announcement and development ( hopefully) .

Anyone else very disappointed with our government choosing saffran over RR? It almost breaks my heart watching this decision. Apart from the supposed independence of France over UK. Does anyone have any idea what benefits Saffran offered over RR? Cause as far as I'm aware, RR is one of the best engine makers in the world and they were willing to make a completely new core for our requirements with technology tranfer I beleive, so what exactly made our government choose Saffran instead.
France also seriously invested in building partnerships with industry in India via joint ventures. Like rafael fuselages. MRO facilities. And probably confidential tech transfer by helping US build testing facilities set to be opened in October.![]()

12 tons= 117.68 Kn of thrust.
Amca engine requirements:- 120kn thrust class.
If true then french NGF fighter of scaf program will be smaller than initially thought, at most 30tons mtow, if they still wanna keep supercruise performance.

We've entered highly uncertain times. Besides RR is in a bit of a spot financially speaking & His Majesty's Government in UK can't always be expected to bail out RR. Add to this the FTA we've signed with UK. We've built up good leverage with them. Time we encashed it.

By then Chinese would have definitely mastered WS15 and it will be mass deployed. I think 2038/2039 development finish and 2043/2044 mass production set up so AMCA MK2 will be produced en masse from 2045.I would guess just for the development part alone, production setup might take some more years naturally.
