Hehe, let's do this quickly now

Edit:

There are two engine M88-4 (105 kN class) offered for the Mk2 and one the Co-development one (120 kN class) for AMCA

It's a done deal for the latter, for former it will depend if the GE deal goes through or not

I hope we take it regardless, I can't take 3-4 more US elections
At last, the day we've been waiting for has arrived... Big shoutout to all the tweets and support from the defense bloggers..
Special thanks to Modi Ji 💐💐

This is just the first wicket down...

Please, let US not forget the contribution of Mr. Trump. We must give him his due thanks for his successfull push to out MoD to fast-track the announcement and development ( hopefully) .

I don't believe this is connected to the USA or Trump. This discussion has been happening for years with Safran and Rolls Royce. After spending a lot of money on business trips and countless hours of discussions, we reached this conclusion. It might be announced now due to the tariff battle between India and the USA, but this decision was bound to come out eventually. The decision was made by considering best possibilities from both the bidders Safran and RR.

Yes sir. I was referring to the "push" for "fast tracking" of "announcement". The decision isn't affected by Trump. But the announcement, surely is.

Anything about building a high altitude test facility/flying testbed aircraft, etc. That way, we can increase the work share by having the French give us? And if possible, steal more IP :D

All included says S Jha in the video.

Hope we also get the M -88-4 engine inked for Tejas Mk2 , HLFT 42, Rafale F5 MRFA make in India, and also MLU of Tejas Mk1A.

Anyone else very disappointed with our government choosing saffran over RR? It almost breaks my heart watching this decision. Apart from the supposed independence of France over UK. Does anyone have any idea what benefits Saffran offered over RR? Cause as far as I'm aware, RR is one of the best engine makers in the world and they were willing to make a completely new core for our requirements with technology tranfer I beleive, so what exactly made our government choose Saffran instead.

A Turenne 3 PEA is already in progress preparation for the future NGF engine (New Generation Fighter) of the SCAF program (Air Combat System of the Future), in addition to the developments envisaged with the use of other new materials resistant to expected high heat variations, variable nozzles, etc. For the NGF, a 12 ton engine approximately thrust is expected.

12 tons= 117.68 Kn of thrust.

Amca engine requirements:- 120kn thrust class.

If true then french NGF fighter of scaf program will be smaller than initially thought, at most 30tons mtow, if they still wanna keep supercruise performance.

France also seriously invested in building partnerships with industry in India via joint ventures. Like rafael fuselages. MRO facilities. And probably confidential tech transfer by helping US build testing facilities set to be opened in October.

Ofcourse, they aren't doing it for free or love for India. It's business. And that's what it should be.

I didn't see any initiatives by RR on ground in 3 years besides flurry of articles as deal got closer to be concluded.

Sign a deal with RR to develop an IEP system for the IN. That ought to be pretty high on our priority list too even if the IN projects accomplishing this in house by 2047.

We've entered highly uncertain times. Besides RR is in a bit of a spot financially speaking & His Majesty's Government in UK can't always be expected to bail out RR. Add to this the FTA we've signed with UK. We've built up good leverage with them. Time we encashed it.

Can Adani take a stake in RR... the UK won't allow majority control but a stake could lead to transfer of some niche tech back to India?

Companies deemed of strategic importance are national assets. If RR can't sustain itself , the government will step in .

No outsiders deemed unfriendly or even neutral will be allowed to take a stake in it leave aside a controlling stake.

Technically it should be like that.
But its the current day UK were talking about.

Like these firangi's shut down their last steel plant.
And now our TATA is making a new steel plant in UK, expected to be operational in 2027.
They even got a 500 million euro grant from UK gov.

This is why Su-57MKI is vital for us. AMCA MK2 won't become operational before 2040.
won't AMCA Mk1 be in service 5 years before then? Do we really need Su57s just for the intervening 9 years? Won't Mk1A and Mk2 meet the requirement along with anti stealth targeting systems? I mean why add a new platform- especially as a stealth aircraft is not the counter for another (enemy) stealth - looking at J35 coming into PAF & J20s in PLAAF.

Intervening 9 year?
They will continue to serve after 9 years.

Lets assume we bought 3 squads of them.
Let's say amca mk1's 2 squads will be delivered by 2037.
Then by 2037 we will have 5 squads of stealth jets.
Instead of just 2 squads of stealth jet by 2037.
Also 5-7 years of usage of steath jets by 2035-2037, training, creating doctrine on how to use stealth jets etc will start much earlier instead of starting at 2035-2037.

Also if we bought 3 squads of stealth jets, than out of those 5 squads by 2037 in envision, 3 will be FOC, while 2 amca mk1 squads would be IOC at best.

The alternative is just 2 amca mk1 squads in IOC configuration without much training, knowledge, doctrine, experience on how to use stealth jets by 2037.

I would guess just for the development part alone, production setup might take some more years naturally.
By then Chinese would have definitely mastered WS15 and it will be mass deployed. I think 2038/2039 development finish and 2043/2044 mass production set up so AMCA MK2 will be produced en masse from 2045.
