Norway has one half the population of Sweden. Norway implemented strict lockdown conditions as the earliest infesctions were detected. Norway has vaccinated 2/5 of its population with at least one vaccine dosage and 10 percent is full vaccinated (I for instance have had both doses of the Pfizer shot). Sweden experimented covid prevention methods, but early on was lax with testing, contact tracing and lockdown measures. Sweden has vaccinated 2/5 of its population with at least one vaccine dosage as well, but only 8 percent of its population is full vaccinated.

...

I have for the last year been assisting with national and international infectious disease prevention and mitigation operations including inoculations, education, improving access to sanitation and critical care.

It's unfortunate that Sweden screwed up badly. I hope better sense prevails until vaccination is complete.

Gujarat population is 7 crores

So Annual Deaths will be more than 6 Lakhs per annum , 10 per 1000 is the normal death Rate all over the world

During the 71-day period mentioned this year, 1.23 lakh died which amounts to an average of roughly 1732 deaths every day, an increase of 36% from the average daily death figure of 2019 for the entire year.

Even fake news could only manage a 36% increase for a period of 71 days for last year, whereas in just 2 weeks this year "millions" have died.

Otoh, Maharashtra claims the rate of death has fallen dramatically since the first wave.

Possibly due to some percentage of the population having developed immunity due to the first wave or being vaccinated (especially the vulnerable sections), lockdowns and the fact that doctors know the disease even better now.

So hospitals are reporting increased caseloads, but decreased fatalities and quicker discharges compared to the first wave. Also a greater porportion of patients are younger than before, and are healing quicker than before, so the mortality rate has also decreased.

To put things in perspective, the Spanish flu has estimated to have killed 20 to 50 million over a course of 104 weeks "all over the world" in the middle of a massive war, which came up to 200,000-500,000 per week. But in India, with vaccinations, lockdowns, significant understanding of a much less dangerous virus, somewhat decent health care, immunity through first wave etc, has killed "millions", (jazz hands) millions (jazz hands) of people in just 2 weeks.

In short everything is normal as usual.

"Near Ganga bank around 1140 KM, 2000+ dead bodies found burried"

"In Prayagraj (Allahabad), due to wind and shifting sand, deadbodies were found burried"

"Did not have money for cremation, so burried the body"

"Dead bodies at every step, no a place to keep feet"

"In villages, in april every day 100s of people cremated."

All of these are stories coming out of UP. So much for "Covid has not reached rural india". We basically do not know what goes on in rural India in north India. I knew about these stories from regional Hindi new papers (Dainik Bhaskar, Amar Uzala, Navbharat times etc) from about 5 days or a week or so. I found it to be too morbid to put it here, just to make my point. Its beyond doubt that covid deaths are massively under reported (10x in Gujrat). Covid has struck in rural parts of UP.

the best solutin we found in forces was to add a peg of Brandy/whishky to half a glass of water and do steam inhalation of this. This forces alcohol vapours directly into lungs and helps in very quick recovery of patients. Only draw back is that it really hits you and gives you a heady feeling which you get after getting drunk.

We have Dainik Jagaran, Amar Ujala and Dainik Bhaskar in our rural UP. Navbharat times is not printed there, at least not in varanasi that I am aware of. In Mumbai though north Indians prefer Navbharat times.
