Russia will not be able to win the competition in a "war of attrition" when Ukraine is supported by the Western world. This was stated by Andrei Klepach, chief economist at Vnesheconombank ( VEB.RF ), Russia's key state bank that finances the Kremlin's national projects and has the status of a "state development corporation," at a session of the Nikitsky Club.
According to Klepach, the costs to the Russian economy from sanctions and the Western blockade are growing, the damage from Ukrainian strikes on ports, infrastructure, chemical and oil refineries is increasing, and Russia is falling further and further behind the world in technological development.
He recalled that after the military boom of 2023–2024, the Russian economy has entered a recession this year, with investment plummeting, and civilian industries sliding into recession—from the aviation industry and construction materials production to light industry and food production.
The Wiltshire-built Nyan drone, developed by BAE Systems subsidiary Callen-Lenz and tested by the Royal Navy, was used to strike Belgorod near the Russian border, the report said.
Hope they have good security.First tested by BAE Systems this summer, the drone has a wingspan of 2.9 metres and can fly more than 150 miles, the defence company said on its website.
The second drone used by the Ukrainian military and made in British factories has a range of more than 600 miles. It is launched using a catapult system allowing drones to be fired in quick succession, according to The Times, which did not name the company for security reasons.
