Ukraine - Russia Conflict

Footage of a Russian high-precision projectile "Krasnopol-M" hitting a launch and control point for Ukrainian army drones. The Krasnopol projectile was fired from a Russian 152-mm towed howitzer 2A65 "Msta-B", 238th Guards Artillery Brigade. The video was filmed near the settlement of Katerynivka in Donetsk Oblast.

On the eve of a possible Ukraine peace deal, my latest blogpost looks at the reality on the battlefield, where the numbers suggest that Ukraine
is losing the will to fight and does not have the weapons necessary to equip their units, let alone recover territory.
The reality behind a peace deal

An earlier blog post (Feb), outlined a peace deal which looks close to being a reality now.

Ukraine has proposed a $100 billion deal to buy American weapons, the costs of which will be covered by Europe. As per reports, the deal was proposed in return for firm US security guarantees, once a peace deal with Russia is reached.

A document reviewed by the newspaper shows that Kyiv also proposed a separate $50 billion deal with US companies to jointly produce drones. The plan was shared with European allies before Ukrainian President Zelensky met with US President Donald Trump at the White House, the report said, citing people familiar with the matter.

Footage of a Russian Iskander missile with a cluster warhead hitting Ukrainian drone operators. The video was filmed near the village of Iverskoye in Donetsk Oblast. The site was being used to prepare for the launch of UJ-22 and Palyanitsa long-range drones. According to media reports, the missile strike killed about 40 soldiers, damaged 16 trucks and a large number of drones. The video shows explosions of ammunition near the drones.

Residents of Kremenchuk have published footage of Russian Kh-101 missiles and Geran-2 drones striking the Kremenchuk oil refinery. The strike also hit the Ukrainian gas compressor station of the Lubensky linear production department of main gas pipelines in the Poltava region. It is worth noting that this is a repeat strike on the largest oil refining enterprise in Ukraine. The Ukrainian plant processes Azeri Light oil from Azerbaijan. Daytime footage from Kremenchuk residents resembles some kind of apocalyptic spectacle.

August footage of combat operations in Ukraine and Donbass, Russian FPV drone interceptors. The videos were published by the Rubicon Center. FPV drones VT-40, drones "Prince Vandal Novgorodsky" and other models are used for air battles. The exact location of the shooting is not reported. In the video you can see the most popular Ukrainian reconnaissance and regular drones, produced in Ukraine and other countries.

Rare footage of the use of Russian FPV drones "Prince Vandal Novgorodsky" and VT-40, in the summer camp of the National Guard of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region. In the video, the drones, controlled by fiber optic cable, flew into the forest camp and attacked the vehicles of the National Guard of Ukraine. It is worth noting that controlling an FPV drone in the forest requires special training.

RT is claiming of Ukraine loosing 1.7 M troops, can someone guide me to truer numbers.
You can check numbers published by US think tanks - ISW is one of them. However, there is indeed a lot of discrepancy even there when you browse their latest reports. Europe has a casualty count as well. You can check Euronews or Bild etc. Numbers thrown for the Russians vary between 500K to 700K. Some put the numbers close to 1M or more for the Russian Federation (inclusive of KIA). Western numbers for Ukraine tend to align with values below 400K for the Ukrainian side.

A lot of noise is there in the data. It would be best if you let this one slide for now.

At start of conflict I refered ISW etc. but found them too biased, true numbers maybe lying somewhere in between.
