History will tell, by choosing Russia India was sitting on the wrong side during Russia ukrain war. Our decision is a political suicide at best.

Nonsense, US just gave us the boot in afghanistan and you still think we should be on the side that is going to cut & run any time ?
smart chinese just bought a smart insurance from russia , next time west sponsors some veto in security council India will be staring at a blank wall.

Our first & foremost goal would have been to ensure china does not add more allies, next seek allies in the region whose geopolitical interests converge with ours. Declining west will offer us little or no help in south east asia or against china, they can sell weapons but will not do much beyond that.

Afghanistan is Pakistan's concern. Not ours. If you think unstable Afghanistan is our problem, blame USSR first.

Blame the British. Afghanistan shouldn't evene cust in the first place. Gandhara and Kabul should be under Indian control.
