Honestly speaking every single plane that isn't VLO is outdated. Yeah tech wise Russian Flankers trail Chinese ones in AESA radar and QWIP IRST. But just having AESA radar and better IRST doesn't automatically guarantee a victory.

Russia isn't going to attack Europe or USA. Their current air power backed by their super advance IADS is good enough to keep them safe in a conventional war against the Euro-Canards.


Speaking of which, in exercise Indradhanush 2015 our Flankers whooped Typhoon 12:0 in dogfights and also scored better than Eurofighter in BVR.

Both SU35S and SU30SM are more advance than our MKI. They can hold their own against any modern fighter in the right hands(in my opinion).

Against Nato trained pilots with Nato's level of connectivity and battle management highly doubtful.

Flankers are unironically the best dogfighters on this planet. Not even the f-22 can win a dogfighting match against a flanker. Sadly the reality is majority of the fights happen in bvr ranges. Where Russian aircrafts are at a huge disadvantage. The only good ones are the su-35 and su-57 and maybe the su-30sm.

Traditional UAVs and UCAVs are doing well against Ukraine because they don't have good AAA and DEW.

Drones like Harops and Harpys, even Shaheds are fine only against low tech adversaries. In Ukraine, the Russians have simply chosen a low cost solution to deal with their problem. The West was too near-sighted when it came to arming Ukraine. They should have taken some risk.

It's the man-portable ones that really count.

Don't underestimate Russia my friend. They may not be what they were during the 70s and 80s, but WDMMA rated VVS/RuAF behind USAF as the 2nd best airforce in their 2022 rankings. WDMMA is known to use qualitative aspect along with quantitative aspect, so their ranking is very accurate and reality based.

No one is invincible in a dogfight. Even the most maneuverable plane can be beat. But yes in that exercise our 1 MKI took down two Eurofighters in WVR battle, that is almost an unheard thing.

But I quoted that exercise for you because: "our Flankers even outdid Eurofighters in BVR."

For our Flankers to best the number 1 Eurocanard in BVR where same rules were set for both sides is not a joke. It's true that Eurofighter didn't have AESA radar or simulated Meteor(which could have given it advantage), but still our Flankers came on top.

So the conclusion is we can't say that 4+ gen Flankers are outclassed by the Eurocanards. Period.
