Better way is to make all vvip transport purchase an atmanirbhar cover up. Let the political leadership take the lead and spare defence forces from taking risk.
I think when IMRH will be ready it will take that position and all the ministers will have 1 in their state.

Let it happen first, a population hesitant of purchasing even a basic electronic item from indian company should not push indigenous equipment to military.

It depends on the product, we love our desi 2 wheeler/ 4 wheeler from TVS, HERO, BAJAJ, RE, M&M, and TATA but in case of defense product.... even though our product is 2nd best, we should give chance to our indigenous products and that confidence on the product will help the product to grow in long run. The problem is the implementation and we see that in the indigenous small arm selection.

There is nothing like second best or third best. If a product is satisfying armed force's qualitative requirements, then we should give chance. Problem is asking them to induct things which is not meeting their requirements. Like Tejas, dont know why we inducted 40 Tejas, the arjun Tanks, the infamous INSAS

According to the french newspaper "Mer & Marine", Naval Group is out of the P75I tender.
No detail so far.

Why? Leak of scorpene secrets?
Delays / cost overuns?
ToT refusal?
“We are no longer in the race, announced this Wednesday the communication from Naval Group. We invested in the information request phase , but certain conditions of the call for tenders did not allow us to participate in the end. "

Japan and Sweden refused to participate citing "certain conditions" and Germany, Russia and France pull out after RFI citing "certain conditions".

Only Spain and South Korea left.

I don't think Russian products have much of a future now.
Again wishful thinking. This only makes things easier for India.

Can give India any weapons it wants: Russia.

There's scope for work in CMS, Sonar suite, countermeasures, weapons suite, etc. Even just technical help for the internal layout could mean a lot.
AUKUS is more to do with nuclear. All the above are there for SSKs.

French backing out now is a good thing. Or it will drag on for years and they will go back on the tender conditions after they become L1.

Now that AUKUS has led the way, we can still derail the P 75 I project and propose nuclear Barracudas instead.

I doubt that will affect the P-75I program though.

But France's exit can result in problems. So only a cancellation can lead to such a situation. The question is if the remaining competitors can meet those "certain conditions".

I don't think Russian products have much of a future now.

Not in this case. Applies less to India.

Post 369:

If the Russians offer SSN tech, the French and Americans will be expected to match the offer.
