Not exactly on par but this would be ok.

Damn. This is completely out of blue. Never heard of it. Common destroyer design as of JMSDF.

Wow, looks like our sucessor to the p18 or a later version of the p18? or it could simply be common design of sub systems etc? completely out of the blue

Tabloids written exclusive news item on this yet? ;)

Willing to bet this will never get anywhere. Oh well, I guess it doesn't hurt to launch a bunch of studies.

5 destroyers in range of 11,000 ton, to get AoN by March of 2026. Contracts to be awarded by March 2028. Take another 5 years, so 2033.

We need a P15C batch in the interim.

What a lovely news and now no P-15C will be coming.

The P-15 core design is of 1980s vintage. It has already maxxed out its potential. We'd be better off building more P-17Bs instead until NGD comes online.

Anything interm will take a similar time. Maybe 1 year early. Not worth it.

There is a sanctioned strength for each type of vessels. I read about 15 DDGs and 30 FFGs as the current sanctioned number which previously was 11 DDGs and 24 FFGs.

So if we do a breakdown then we have:
• 03 P-15 + 03 P-15A + 04 P-15B + 05 NGD = 15 DDGs
• 03 P-16A + 10 P11536 + 03 P-17 + 07 P-17A + 07 P-17B = 30 FFGs

We obviously need to re-evaluate the force levels now.

We should have enough that

1. Assets alongside Gujarat and Maharashtra can put forward a strike force enough to conduct operations against Pakistan.

2. Karwar should have enough assets to support a CBG formation in Arabian Sea.

3. Vizag should have enough to support 1 CBG, a taskforce for Bangladesh and a taskforce for IOR.

4. A&N should also have 1 taskforce.

By taskforce i mean that 4-6 P15A/B,P17A deployed at a time, meaning atleast 10 vessels.

I count 5-6 taskforces.

That means around 30 vessels deployed. That means atleast 60 in inventory.

That's atleast 15 addition capital vessels.

The immediate priority for the IN is the replacement of the 5 Rajput class DDGs which have already started retiring.

However, the long-term requirement is for 8 hulls to eventually replace the Delhi class by the late 2030s-early 40s.

The IN may be planning a 5+3 build program for NGD.
