Mirage 2000H, MiG-29UPG, Jaguar DARIN III - Medium Multirole Aircraft of IAF

No offence to mirage-2000, but why are we still after M2K????
Why?

May be 2 to 4 numbers.. I think..

Bhaduria got us free Jaguars and old mirages for spare parts during the IAF Rafale purchase with his power to spend 300 cr.

IN Rafale purchase seems to be accompanied by few more accessory deals..

Any significance of specific mention of twin seater? I also think that reason btw.
For training purpose or for TACDE! Anyways, these are just speculations. If they are going for few 2-seat M2K, then IAF'll have pretty good reasons for acquiring 'em. That's the bottomline, IMO

The reason is the continuous crash of the twin-seater version. They started the process when the last twin-seat crash at Bangalore HAL airport killed both pilots.

Already in our inventory. Training aircraft. Integration with Nato weapons. Enough training no real costs in inducting them and will give us extreme breathing space.
We can get our hands on around 200 mirage 2000's. And we could upgrade them similarly to how the Pakistanis did Project Rose. We already have MRO facility for M53's if I'm not wrong so no real issue.
250 mirage 2000's integrated with storm Shadow, Exocet and Hammer missiles and our air support issues are resolved.
Tejas can do CAS and point defence then while flankers and rafale provide air cover.

It's truly remarkable what we're witnessing unfolding before our very eyes in the Ukraine war with the proliferation of low flying drones & hundreds of thousands of MANPADS, the IAF is still persisting with its DPSA plans for the Jaguars.

I mean while deep penetration & CAS still remain vital tactics in battles & wars, whether the antiquated Jaguars in spite of it's upgrades is the right candidate for these operations is not something I'm totally convinced about.

And keep in mind, unlike Indian Army's MANPAD coverage which is ancient, Pakistanis have large numbers of modern Swedish, French & American MANPADS in addition to the Chinese ones.

The leading high-altitude interceptor! The Air Force recently allocated 24.3 billion in funds to modernise the "Air Combat King" phantom fighter.

In response to the frequent deployment of various types of jammers by the Chinese Communist Party's People's Liberation Army, the Mirage 2000 fighter, one of the three main types of fighter aircraft in the Chinese Air Force, has the best rate of climb among the three main types of fighter aircraft. The Mirage fighter therefore bears the heavy responsibility of being a high-altitude interceptor, the important air defence capability of our army. However, of the three main types of fighter in our Air Force, only the Phantom fighter has not yet been the subject of comprehensive projects to extend its life and improve its performance. According to the 2013 National Defence Budget announced this year, the Air Force has recently budgeted more than €24.3 billion to improve the availability and maintenance of the Phantom fighter. Follow-on operations will extend the life of the Mirage fighter and continue to be responsible for the high-altitude intercept mission in the Taiwan Strait.

According to the 2013 Defence Budget announced this year, there will be five additional budgets for the Phantom fighter next year, one for procurement from qualified domestic and overseas manufacturers and four for procurement from French originating manufacturers under open-ended contracts. The newly developed budget project will continue to procure airframe parts and engine-related materials to maintain logistical adequacy. In line with fleet management requirements, the Armée de l'Air has also signed a contract with the original French factory that produces the Phantom fighter to extend the life check for the Phantom two-seat fighter. If there are no problems with evaluation and detection, the service life of the Mirage fighter should be extended by a further 20 years.

The five new budget items include the Phantom fighter parts and accessories outsourcing case for 9.121559 billion yuan, the M53-P2 engine parts and accessories outsourcing case for 9.691682 billion yuan, and the electronic warfare system parts and accessories outsourcing case 49 16.296. million yuan, 507,858 million yuan for the purchase of mica and magic missile spare parts, and 120 million yuan for the purchase of main wheels and front tyres. The total amount was 24,357,395 billion yuan and was sent to the Legislative Yuan for review. In fact, the Mirage 2000 fighter, one of the Air Force's three main types of fighter aircraft, has the best rate of climb among the three main types of fighter aircraft, enabling it to seize the advantageous layer earlier than enemy aircraft when executing. interception missions. Much has been relied upon since its service. Its important air defence capability.

However, Phantom fighter jets have been in service in Taiwan for over 30 years. The performance of the machine's parts is becoming obsolete and its combat effectiveness can no longer meet the needs of the current situation. In recent years, the army has held numerous discussions on the advisability of buying new fighter aircraft to eliminate the Phantom fighters or to improve their performance. As a result of these discussions, and according to the contract award announcement recently announced by the Ministry of Defence, the French Air Force has signed a contract with the original French factory that produces the Phantom fighter, and will proceed with the verification of the life extension of the two-seat Phantom fighter. The plan is to run from August 1 this year to July 2026. At the end of the period, the verification will be checked in 3 years.

In addition, at the end of 2022, the Air Force organised the "Annual Tactical General Acceptance" (also known as the Tianlong exercise). The Mirage 2000 fighter from the 2nd Wing at Hsinchu Air Base won the title of "Target King". and "Aerial Combat King", at the head of the 42nd Combat Zhuang Weibo, the air force lieutenant colonel and head of air force operations who won the "King of Air Combat" award, said in an interview that during a simulated air battle, four Mirage 2000 fighter jets were sent to attack four F-16 fighter jets playing the role of the Red Army. Thanks to good training and tacit cooperation between team-mates, the team All four F-16s were shot down and one Mirage 2000 fighter was shot down. down, winning 4:1. Demonstrate the excellent performance of our Mirage 2000 fighters and the powerful combat skills of our Air Force pilots.

Faced with the continued intrusion of Communist aircraft into the surrounding air and sea space, the Mirage fighter is currently one of the most powerful second-generation aircraft in our army. The Hsinchu air base to which it currently belongs is also the closest base to the mainland. China to Taiwan. As long as the Communist fighters take off, our second-generation aircraft, including our Mirage fighters, respond immediately. The Chinese army is ready for war all year round to defend the security of the Taiwan Strait and at night.

It's unclear if the upgrades will come in before any potential war. They should have begun the process long ago.

France should also make the Rafale available to them.

If available, EF will be a better high altitude fighter/interceptor than Rafale to them.

The only advantage the Typhoon has over the Rafale, supersonic performance, cannot be used over Taiwan. It's useless to them.
Dassault knows how to make supersonic aircraft; the Mirage, for example, is as fast as the Typhoon, while having a much lower thrust-to-weight ratio. If the Rafale isn't so, it's because it has parts covered with absorbent materials that are more sensitive to temperature (for example, the F-35 can only be supersonic for a limited time). As a result, Dassault has simplified the air intakes by removing the moving parts, which has advantages for stealth and maintenance. Despite this, the Rafale is capable of reaching Mach 2, but France prohibits its pilots from doing so because it degrades the aircraft. In any case, with payloads, the speed of fast aircraft is generally limited to Mach 1.6.
