Lok Sabha passes Citizenship Bill amidst Opposition outcry

I dont care about CAB or NRC. But why is the government not doing anything to improve the economy? Campaigns like these are just keeping the country in turmoil and diverting people's attention. But how long can they keep playing this game? Every few months this government manages to bring up something that keep people fighting with each other, why is this interest not shown to produce any real reforms to improve the country? Least they could do is to have a capable FM but instead most ministries are run by idiots. Yes Congress messed up our country, but it's been 6 years past them and we are doing worse than before. What exactly happened to all the money the government earned through divestment of public sector units? I'm surprised people here somehow believe that this government will improve the country's condition magically by amending the constitution every few months.

P.S: Waiting for next thread to open with a new reform in constitution after few months once the economy gets even worse.

My friend this and other nationalist projects are because they have nothing to crow about on the economic front and are more than happy to avoid talks on that front. Just look at the mainstream media, is anyone discussing the economy......

Improving the economy was never an agenda of the BJP. Mandir and a totalitarian Hindu state are the only priorities so that the Brahmins and RSS live their dream.

The way things are poised economy is not a concern for govt and Selfie queen is doing everything possible to make the economy worse

That's coz in this eternal fight between Islam & Hinduism, Islam didn't prevail over Hinduism but Hinduism didn't win either. This conflict has been on for more than a millennium. It preceded the British & outlasted them.We are in just another phase of this conflict.The British recognized these internal fault lines and played on it to their advantage to consolidate & further their rule. But in doing so they also unified the polity. Something that had eluded us for centuries of not millenia if you ignore the partition. That one factor is responsible for our rise as a nation state whatever the shortcomings .

The successful recipe for a successful modern Nation state is one overwhelmingly majority religion, one overwhelmingly majority tongue & one overwhelmingly majority race. Most of Western Europe has it, US has it, Japan has it & China too has it. If we make it successfully we'd be the one exception that proves the rule.

I believe I read somewhere in the readers Digest way back in the 90's an article that was written in the 80's about nation states that wouldn't survive the end of 20th century. It was based on an internal assessment of the CIA. The nations were Yugoslavia & India. The reasons given were a corollary to what I've written earlier in my post. A plethora of languages, ethnicities & religions with no significant dominance of any one group over the others with none of the groups living in harmony with the others and a bad history behind them.

Btw - you should've pointed out to the Brit that the industrial revolution was completely financed by Indian money which apart from serving as a base for raw materials also served as a captive market for Britain. Which in turn propelled the British to superpower status.Something that the Germans under Hitler effectively ended aiding the dissolution of their Empire. Since then the British have effectively limped along as a second rate power now soon to be categorised as a 3rd rate one thanks to internal dissensions. In less than a century they'd be consigned to being a cold damp insignificant isle they were for most of their history and in all probability split in two or more states within those isles.

Islam as a religion has no place in India based on the 42 amendment to our constitution. This religion does not accept anyother religion and terms all other religious followers as Kafirs especially Idolaters (hindus). And their Holy book calls for eliminating them and killing them. The study, distribution, teaching and following of Quraan of this murder cult is forbidden as per many provisions of of our CrPC and IPC. Islam can not co exist with any other religion and therefore it needs to be banned in any pluralistic society wihich is secular in nature.

The Nellie massacre was an overwhelmingly one sided affair with almost all the victims Bengali Muslims. The report of the enquiry commission is still a state secret with the contents not being made public. Incidentally the spark which lit the fuse was the decision of the Indira Gandhi government to grant 4 million Bangladeshi immigrants the right to vote following which when electoral rolls were prepared it was observed that a few districts bordering Bangladesh has reported a huge increase in voters almost all of whom were suspected to be Bangladeshi Muslim immigrants who got registered courtesy a compromised Congress administration. The role played by ppl like Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed and his cohorts right thru the 50's, 60's & 70's in encouraging such immigration and legalizing their presence as Indian citizens here has not been highlighted enough. In fact thanks to such 5th columnists in our midst, there has always existed a strand of thought among the intelligensia in Bangladesh that Assam is a kind of lebensraum for Bangladeshis. This thought precedes & succeeds partition . No one was convicted as part of the Assam Accord that saw all cases against the accused being dropped.

As far as the Assamese go, their xenophobia stems from a larger Bengali presence which they think they cannot overcome or reconcile with . Second or third generation Bengalis both Muslims & Hindus who speak Assamese have been educated in Assam in Assamese who also report in census that Assamese is their mother tongue does little to assuage Assamese Chauvinists. I see the long term situation as the Lower Barak Valley which as of now is overwhelmingly full of Bangladeshis both Hindus & Muslims needs to be settled by Bangladeshi Hindus and gradually a separation from the Brahmaputra valley which is dominated by Assamese. This will be no doubt a long drawn out painful process with a lot hanging by the CAB & the NRC.

Ohh really? What was ISIS about? Were they not the purest form of Islam? They traded girls taken captive to generate money and all those who bought those girls were also pure Islamists.
