LCA AF Mk2 (Medium Weight Fighter) - News and discussions

thats why i said starting lol, never said they were alr there. They need genuine fear of losing all future orders apart from the mk1a for them to start working. If we could somehow get the private sector to open a line for the mk2 it would be even better.

Will HAL deliver atleast one Mk1A this year? I have no hope.

Just split HAL into different divisions and sell each division to TASL, L&T, Kalyani.

That would be incredibly stupid as the same as what the british have done with their railways, we know how that went. We dont need to split HAL, wee to give them competition to compete against like the navy does with MDL, CSL, GRSE, GSL, HSL, l&T etc.

Nothing major is gonna change as long as recruitment and work culture in HAL remains the same.

Maybe a slight improvement due to private competition.

Do you think they will deliver atleast 1 MK1A this year?

Yes, resignations are used for purging in govt establishments. They are allowed to leave in dignity while retaining their retirement perks.

In the private sector, companies make the life of employees harder when it comes time for layoffs forcing many to resign. Indian companies have turned it into an art form.
Example:

It's simple. Literally NOBODY in senior positions in govt offices resign voluntarily. Quite literally nobody. These offices have always been a cesspool of stagnation. If someone speaks of early retirement in PSUs, your co-workers will look at you like you are retarded. It's because your pension benefits fall if you take VRS. Plus the govt decides whether you are allowed to leave or not. Meaning, you can retire only if the govt lets you go.

With those conditions, you are resigning voluntarily. Yeah, right!!!

Man, the bar for stupidity has been falling. I think I should post more often if people are to stay informed.

Too early to do that. It can be done after the entire LCA program is complete.

The private sector needs a lot more experience. Should become possible once all the current production contracts are fulfilled.

DRDO too is going to be reformed to work only on exotic tech, leaving generic stuff to the private sector.

Yeah go ahead and sell off the only aircraft manufacturer that isn't in the business of just license assembling foreign OEM designs.
Sounds like a great idea

Yes, they will, unless IAF throws a curveball at the very last minute.

While I support the emergence of Private Sector Defense Firms like TASL etc., selling off HAL would be the last thing we would want. You can blame them all you want, but they are at the centre of our Mil-aviation industry. So selling them to TASL or L&T or Kalyani won't be very fruitful. We need to keep HAL strong along with supporting our Private defence entities. It isn't a one way solution.

PS: Those who support Private defense firm, just look how Lockheed Martin has conned USAF regarding F-35 program, then compare that with what HAL is doing about Tejas program, and HAL would come out as Saint, lol.

Just to be clear the resignations I was referring to in #2638 pertains to this article I linked in #2636 about DRDO scientists quitting on personal grounds both of which are appended below .

Now it may well be the case that this is classified information though why is it so is beyond me . In which case what's the point of sharing such links ? But that's what the post 8 pm effect is all about.

Google Search

So resignations is now part of "the great purge " by the Modi government. I highlighted the article only to give readers here an idea of the various reasons people are quitting the DRDO since there are no confirmed figures of the yarns professional story teller has subjected us to nor has he provided any direct evidence of his allegations , as usual , in his standard MO over the past decade.
This clarification is necessary else professional story teller would otherwise run away with the narrative to spin more fanciful stories

Compulsory Retirement as the name suggests is coerced retirement else GoI can invoke termination which would be a blot on the personal reputation of the individual & if he's young enough to be employable would definitely hamper his career prospects.

All this is known . What isn't known is the number of DRDO personnel purged in all those rounds we've had since 2014 , the only high profile one being the exit of Avinash Chander which makes this discussion moot as there's literally zero evidence in the public domain for such compulsory retirement / termination.

However what we do have are exceptions to the above case . The most glaring example remains the ADE . While they've had some success in developing flight simulators , the DFCC for the Tejas & low tech items like Lakshya , Abhyas , Rustom series of TDs & prototypes when this sector was out of bounds to the Pvt Sector the fact remains that as we go up the ladder in terms of the sophistication of technology the ADE simply hasn't delivered be it in the MALE drone category , Nirbhay Sub Sonic Cruise Missile , & what have you .

So as you see the projects they've successfully undertaken can as of now be successfully undertaken by the Pvt Sector & if not that there are 54 labs associated with DRDO which can undertake these.

It's telling that Dr Christopher ex DG DRDO had to transfer the Ghatak program from ADA to ADE lock stock barrel along with the personnel associated with the project just to save the latter from the chopping block. The ADE had come that close to being shut down & survived. Should tell you how resilient these institutions are & how insulated they can be to criticism overview result oriented policies etc .

In the 6 months professional story teller was absent from this forum it was certainly a much more peaceful place wherein there weren't any misrepresentations , falsehood & so on meaning no story telling hence no corrections & therefore no disputes & literally nobody missed professional story teller or his tall stories.

So yes while the bar for stupidity was very low we didn't have any displays of such stupidity even then . Admittedly it made for a very drab forum but that's a story for another day.

Some tweets by him on Tejas MK2

Got told some mk2 info, we are very very close to a first flight. The frame is assembled ready in a hangar, waiting for a few subsystems.
As you would know i don't normally post about mk2

On rollout
This year, not sure about months.

Another user on the rollout
Nope it will be end of this year or first quarter of next year. My friend works in ADA projects mk2 and AMCA.
Bhai most likely next year. He came to check certify some component in my city. Mark2 is a priority project for them. Hope you are right am wrong. He also said something about challenges they are facing in AMCA IWB.

On @kaliputra asking HAL for a sneek peak
Waha se nhi aayega sneak peak

He retweeted this
All the people that I had the opportunity of interacting with said the same, it will be revealed during it's first flight, no taxi trials planned for the public😃, fingers crossed🤞

Private should be only DCPP. They should have no ownership towards any DRDO work.

Lockheed Martin basically scammed USAF and this was the first such thing happened. There is a reason F47 went to Boeing and this time Pentagon will have careful on the work process.

The HAL chairman clearly mentioned first flight in FY27. I dont think they wanted to do a roll out ceremony after all the criticism theyve gotten and wanted to directly go for the FF to improve public perception

First Flight Likely

Some other tweets of Shwetabh
On the secrecy
What's with all the secrecy is something I cannot answer. It has wheels and can move around

I don't know when btw, I don't know how long those subsystems would take. I have told as i have been told

Hukum2082 on the subsystems issues
Subsystems in case of Mk2 seem to be related propulsion and flight controls

Rethik_D says
very very close to ff means SSTT AND HSTT done ig
SSTT=Slow speed taxi trials,HSTT=high speed taxi trials

Boys, have patience! It'll come and be one kickass bird that will be better than Gripen-E and even match Rafale in most area. Till then, just hold tight;)

We are holding tight for so long. Nothing ever materialises.

MK2 won't match Rafale and IAF chief confirmed this.

We give 30-40 billion USD to Rafale. But cannot fund two parallel 7 billion engine projects. One with RR and Other with Safran.

Hoping this reverse jinx works.:(

It won't match rafale in physical aspects like payload.
In terms of advancement of tech it will be ahead of F4, designed for MUMT from development phase itself
