MoD paid phase 3 tranche last year only.

HAL is yet to get paid the dues around Rs 20,000 cr. If MoD keeps treating Indian companies as the second class, import will continue.

Army does not have enough artillery guns or ammunition. Yet they ordered the overpriced Apache which the airforce already operate!.

If the services do not get their priorities right, imports will continue.

Method to calculate the dues can be very tricky, just saying!

Sir, not saying Indian defence manufacturing industry is not as per even our expectations for most of the time since independence, leave services aside for a moment. Just for example, some folks life have ended just because weapon was found deficient during CI ops. In factories, manufacturing failure or trail failure means machine downtime. During active ops, failure/deficiency in such equipment results in KIA tag.

On the other side, our forces too have their fair share of (lack of) support to Indian defence industry, only if they had taken active role in not only funding (which government/services does already) but also should have deployed manpower (user) on the factory floor with top level direction management. But it doesn't matter much now anyways.

Your thoughts, Sir?

Thank you.

No, there is an issue with the stabilization of the platform that is to be inducted.

You need two kinds of budget to run concurrently, 01 to maintain minimum inventory and and 01, to support introduction of the technology that is indigenous and that shall be stabilized over some time.

LCA falls in the latter category, it shall be stabilized over some time as it gets operationally updated after being put through actual loops. But that needs a budgetary support that is exclusive for it.

When the overall defence budget has shrunk to its lowest levels since 1962, not much maneuver space is left.

Sir. Where does the budgetary allocation come from for the DPSUs? Just curious? Under what head is it allocated? And am really not sure why there is no military interface from a developers perspective with DPSUs? Perhaps because 'humein mat sikhao, hum 20 saal se yeh kar rahe hain"? Maybe.

Quite unsure actually. There is a very strong lobby that does not want faujis coming into MEA, or into DPSUs while in service, for reasons best known to them.

And yes, there is one school of thought within forces too which also does not want them going there. Strange are the ways when average Indian is more corrupt than imaginable.

is at culmination stage. Commissioning of various equipments and system has commenced after the lock down. Basin Trials of the vessels is scheduled in October 2020.

@vstol Jockey are we doing the rught thing here. Navy air assets are limited in number and for better survivability we need better air to air missiles on it. Does Astra really a superior missile? After all. Mig29 K will face f16 with AIM-120 C5 in war.
Astra is made as per western standards and does have a very effective seeker. It also has much better propellent. Plus the dual pulse Astra is just 18-24 months away. Once you integrate Astra Mk1, Mk2 will be a drop fit.

Lemme Put it this way (and I say this with all the responsibility at my command)

IAF is far more excited about the Astra coming online than they are about induction of Rafale.

Make of it what you will.

That's not INS Kochi. INS Kochi is a Kolkata class destroyer. This is the Aircraft Carrier INS Vikrant. Since when are destroyers flat tops?

You mustn't be posting so late in the night. This is what happens when you're sleep deprived & yet insist on posting.

Location is Kochi and he is most probably commenting on backwaters beauty of Kochi and Ernakulam!😛 You can see naval base on right hand and Kochi shipyard on left hand. Bridge connect to Fort Kochi (right hand) with Marine drive side (left hand). Photo is taken from somewhere above Vallarpadam.
