That's pretty expensive. Will they get the Super-Sukhoi standard or the normal one? I assume it's the former based on the price.
I am guessing they will upgrade the 4 Su-30SM they have to MKI standard. Buy 8-12 MKI, and then get upgrades for super sukhoi in future? Armenia were interested in Tejas 1A and 2, according to one Armenian intel account. Maybe 1A is included in the deal ? Otherwise, deal is expensive. Don't know where they got the numbers, can't find another source.
@marich01 the reliable source is the MP, watch the youtube video with the timestamps above.

Maybe they are also procuring a significant chunk of A2A and A2G weaponry as part of this deal.
They will likely not repeat the mistake of not procuring weapons systems as they did when they acquired 4 Su-30SM from Russia.

I have my doubt. It is like you post some positive rumour news of a famous person in social media with tagging in , and that person liked the post. It does not make that rumour true or false. So we have to see. Based on Armenia spending capacity I would be surprised at such outlay. Even Russia would mind if they buy double digit nos like that after just 4 jets from them.
Upgrading those 4 airframes into MKI standard can happen, if available.

Actually they had bought missiles according to that intel account. One of his substack article was shared here, see post 365 and 366 on page 19 by Gautam. He had also written a semi paid article which discussed armenia's interest in tejas and astra missile (see post 366). Unfortunately, for some reason he has deleted his substack blog and the tweet related to this as well

Are you talking about the Tejas for Philippines screenshot I posted ?

Why would Russia object when they have approved it.

Armenia has tripled its defense budget from 2020 to this year. Its going keep increasing for next few years as well.

An Caucasus based outlet on the deal:

The previous Indian-Armenian arms deals have also been reported by the website and were followed with confirmations from both governments.

India and Armenia are on the verge of signing memoranda of understanding (MoUs) valued at $3.5 to $4 billion, with a sharp focus on modernising Armenia’s air defence, missile systems, and artillery capabilities.

Sources told Republic Network that the next-generation Akash-NG variant, boasting significantly enhanced range and interception capabilities, is under active discussion for integration into Yerevan’s layered air defence architecture.

Demand for the supersonic BrahMos cruise missile has surged following the successful deployment of the weapon during the “Operation Sindoor,” the sources added. Negotiators are now hammering out a co-production framework that would enable licensed assembly of BrahMos components inside Armenia, marking a strategic shift toward joint manufacturing.

Parallel talks are advancing on the multi-barrel Pinaka rocket artillery system, to bolster Armenia’s fire support. This partnership is a key component of Armenia's strategy to diversify its military suppliers and reduce dependence on Russia.

Armenia is set to finalise a massive $3.5-4 billion arms deal with India amid ongoing tensions with Azerbaijan. Sources say the deal will include air defense systems, missile systems and artillery, marking a major leap in India’s strategic presence in the South Caucasus region.

The discussions focus on the Akash-NG missile system, which has advanced interception capabilities and a longer range than earlier versions. It impressed military observers during India’s Operation Sindoor and is expected to become a key part of Armenia’s multi-layered air defense network.

The country has also shown interest in India’s supersonic BrahMos cruise missile, which destroyed 11 Pakistani airbases during India’s military offensive against Pakistan. Defense analysts see the deal as a significant upgrade to Armenia’s capabilities while boosting India’s defense export ambitions and ‘Make in India’ initiative.

According to the Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analysis (MP-IDSA), India has been supplying advanced weapons to Armenia since 2022. These include the Pinaka multi-barrel rocket system, Konkurs anti-tank guided missiles, 155mm howitzer guns, the Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System (ATAGS), Akash and Akash-NG air defense batteries, anti-drone systems and small arms ammunition.

India and Armenia are also negotiating a co-production framework for the BrahMos missile, which could allow some components to be manufactured in Armenia itself.

Philippines Ambassador to USA:- “We look at India now as one of our top partners and friends. They have been very supportive of the Philippines…We are actually buying quite many defence equipment like BrahMos and are also working with India on the technology side
