Aren’t they still milking Willys jeep licence from 60s

Yep. They did modify it though. That can't really be considered Milking. By that description all companies making AR based rifles that they modified would also be considered milking.

Ford, Navistar.

That is a more accurate example.

That reminds me didn't Hero MotoCorp sign a deal with Eric Buell for making super bikes a few years back ? What happened to that ?

How much important is Electronic Stability control to a car? Can we install ESC in after market ?

Most cars offer ESC in their top end versions only. For example, Kia Seltos base version On Road Price in Andhra : 11.5L , GTX version which offers ESC On Road price is 18.5 lakhs. Even Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue offer ESC only in their top end version. Can we buy a base model of a car and get ESC installed in after market ?

If you travel on highways frequently and not just in city, ESC is very important and must have for SUVs

Nitin Gadkari confirms Tesla coming to India in ‘early 2021’

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways and the Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Nitin Gadkari on Monday told The Indian Express Idea Exchange programme that US clean energy and electric vehicle company Tesla will “start operations” in India in early 2021.

During the conversation with Indian Express editors, the minister underlined the push for electrical cars in the country and said a lot of Indian companies were also working on electrical vehicles that might be more affordable, but technically as advanced as the Tesla. He said Tesla will start operations first with sales and then maybe look at assembly and manufacturing based on the response to the cars. “India is going to become a number 1 manufacturing hub for auto in five years,” Gadkari added.

In October, Tesla CEO Elon Musk had suggested that the company will come to India in 2021 while responding to a tweet from India. “Next year for sure,” Musk had replied when a handle called Tesla Club India checked with him about the company’s progress in India.

Recent reports suggest the first model to come to India will be the more affordable Tesla Model 3, booking for which could start in a few weeks. However, the Economic Times report said the sales will happen only in the second half of the year. The completely built units will be imported and likely to be priced Rs 55 lakh onwards. Tesla will most probably handle sales directly as it does in other parts of the world.

In 2016, Tesla has collected $1000 deposit from interested buyers in India. However, those consumers are still waiting for their cars and some of them had told indianexpress.com they felt let down by the company.

In 2017, a year after the company started taking bookings, Musk had said his cars could come to India in the summer, but later blamed FDI norms for the delay. “Maybe I’m misinformed, but I was told that 30% of parts must be locally sourced and the supply doesn’t yet exist in India to support that,” he had tweeted.

Scrappage Policy: BIG announcement by Nitin Gadkari on new vehicle purchase

Scrappage Policy: Indian government has been proactive in regard to the scrappage policy implementation. In fact, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has made it clear in her budget speech that Scrappage Policy will become a reality. Now, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has been taking care of the progress work in this regard. While speaking on the current progress in regard to the Scrappage Policy in India, Gadkari said that people who junk their old vehicles and buy a new one under the purview of India's vehicle scrappage policy will receive about 5 per cent rebate from automakers on the new purchase vehicles.

Commenting upon the recent developments in regard to the scrappage policy Indian minister Nitin Gadkari said, "Automobile manufacturers will provide about 5 per cent rebate on new car purchases to the consumers in lieu of scrapping the old. There are four major components of the policy...Apart from rebate, there are provisions of green taxes and other levies on old polluting vehicles. These will be required to undergo mandatory fitness and pollution tests in automated facilities. For this automated fitness centres would be required throughout the country and we are working in that direction."

As per the Scrappage Policy in India, private vehicle owners will get incentive on new purchases from the automakers on scrapping one's 20 year old vehicle. For commercial vehicles, the time-period is 15 years to avail scrappage policy incentive from the automakers on new purchases without the fitness test.

However, the government hasn't yet shared specifics about the fitness tests, but from what we know so far, private and commercial vehicles over 20 and 15 years old, respectively, will be required to undergo a fitness test at government's automated vehicle fitness centers. Above mentioned automated fitness test centres will be set up under public private partnership (PPP) mode and the government will also aid private partners and state governments to establish scrapping centres.
