Indian Army Artillery Systems : News and Updates

Ys Chinese are fielding a lot howitzers & rocket artillery along lac.
We need atleast 400 alone along LAC, in add another 100-200 against Pakistan in rajasthan & panjab.
If we need 1:1 numbers on both fronts. For the Pakistani front we need atleast
400 arti 155mm guns
200 sph
100 truck mounted sph
1000 mbt's
300 mrls
Chinese
800-1700 arti 155mm guns
400-500 sph
200-300 truck mounted sph
Atleast 70-100 SRBM
3500 mbt's
1000 mrls
1000 UAV drone fleet to handle both fronts

I understand it's one of those juvenile posts. But we really lack the numbers.

How much of the equipment can they actually bring to us? 3500 tanks? Certainly no.

Read somewhere that a total of 38 TELs of SMERCH were ordered in 2005 for 2 regiments with 3 batteries each with 6 launches each, with others being reserves.

Another 24 TELs were contracted a few years later. Brining the total to 62 TELs.

Newer rockets inducted post 2017 can target various types of fortifications/armour upto 90km away.

This info can have errors. If someone has any info please make this more accurate.

90km rang eis bad. The Pakistanis already have 120km range artillery and the Chinese have 300km range artillery of multiple different calibers.

90km range at sea level and up there in hills the range gets increased due to low air density. And most action will happen up there.

Wishful numbers.

We only have munitions production MoU as far as I know and without licence production I don't see we have those numbers.

62 units were purchased in total. The only doubt can be that those are either 62 TELs or 62 batteries.

When giving wiki as a source look in its citation and make a call on its authenticity. Most wiki edits are done by fanboys who lives outside of reality.

We have three Smerch regiments. Each regiment has 14 TELs, 12 + 2. So 42 in all.

28 were ordered the first time, followed by 14 a second time.

42 were the total until 2018. It's unclear if more TELs came in after that through emergency purchases.

Just to be specific the article means the remaining guns of 145 order. Nothing over and above the 145 order as of now.

By protecting artillery with round the clock CAP and saturating with SAM and detering PLAAF.
Next use of Excalibur for extended precision strikes can help a lot in helping indian army to move forward and take war to enemy territory...
They can launch missiles from beyond our range of visibility and to make things worse these howitzers are not that mobile. So whats the point in having them unless it is a small scale conventional war (which means chinese giving away their advantage)?
