Indian Aircraft Crash Notification

Appalling!. We lost 26 aircrafts in last 5 years nad 12 pilots + extra casualties. I have never heard about anyone held responsible for this losses?
We are drooling over downing a single F16 of PAF but we lost 26 in last 5.
Whose responsible for this? We whine about depleting numbers , IAF whines about flying 45 year old MiGs , MoD whines about no funds , HAL whines about no privatization and everyone are excited to import new aircrafts asap but no one cares about mismanagement of existing aircrafts.
Its nations resources that get lost when an aircraft crashes , hard earned tax payers money.
There is always an Court of Inquiry on the accident but there is no outcome , no one held guilty. The case keeps lingering on untill next crash happens.
Before drooling over new imports or domestic purchases , we need to be responsible first and manage what we have.

There are some basic problems IAF faces..
Several very old fighters.
Russian engines and airframes being flogged to NATO flying hours standard.
HAL maintainence/assembly often negligent.
Occasional software issues due to integrating multiple OEM equipment.
Bird hits.
Lack of intermediate jet trainer.
Of these 1st two reasons are most important.

The Navy is awaiting report of the court of inquiry (CoI) instituted in the matter to investigate the cause of the accident.

“The CoI will establish the real cause of the failure of both the engines and whether both suffered due to bird hit,” said an officer.

According to the Navy, the twin-seater Russian aircraft, on a routine training sortie, encountered a “flock of birds” after take-off from the naval Air Base at Dabolim in Goa around noon on 16 November.

“The pilot observed that the left engine had flamed out and the right engine had caught fire. Attempts to recover the aircraft following the standard operating procedures were unsuccessful due to the nature of the emergency,” the Navy said in a statement.

Navy 'concerned' as both engines of MiG 29K aircraft failed before Goa crash

Please understand that sky above and runway behind has no value. This incident happened on take off when the aircraft was very low. Both engines failed. You need time to revive a flamed out engine and with second engine on fire, they had no time. Do not blame the aircraft for this incident or the pilots. Please remember the incident of "Hudson Glider". best of the aircraft can't survive such a catastrophic incident.

Whats engine flame out????
A jet engine runs by compressing the air to a temprature which is above the ignition point of the fuel used. So for that to happen, it must have a steady flow of air which meets the fuel-air ratio to maintain continued combustion. Flameout is a situation in which for some reason this airflow is disturbed or become unstable leading to this self sustained combustion of fuel to stop. something very similar to good old kerosene stoves that you must have seen which needed a bit of pumping to ensure proper pressure of kerosene coming out of the nozzle. If you stopped or reduced that pressure, the stove used to go out.
In this case, the bird strike must have disturbed this airflow either by blocking it or by damaging the blades of the compressor to such an extent that the flame in the combustion chamber could not be sustained, resulting in the stoppage of fuel burn in combustion chamber.

IAF AN-32 crashed in Arunachal Pradesh due to navigational error, poor visibility: Standing Committee on Defence

The AN-32 had lost radar contact in an area between Tato, Payum and Along (also known as Aalo) in the afternoon of June 3.

NEW DELHI: An investigation into the crash of an Indian Air Force AN-32 transport aircraft in Arunachal Pradesh in June that killed 13 people on-board, was because it entered the wrong valley due to a ‘navigational error’ in bad weather and the crew was unable to fly it out of there due to poor visibility.

The developments were shared by the Standing Committee on Defence in one of its reports presented to the Lok Sabha Speaker on Friday. The Committee stated that it had wished to learn about the findings of the court of inquiry on the June 3 crash of the AN-32. It was informed that the inquiry team has completed its investigation into the crash. One of the reasons was, “the aircraft entered the wrong valley due to navigational error in bad weather”.

The other reason was, “the crew was unable to fly the aircraft safely out of the blind valley due to poor visibility and clouding”.

The AN-32 had lost radar contact in an area between Tato, Payum and Along (also known as Aalo) in the afternoon of June 3. On that day, the aircraft had got airborne from the Jorhat Air Force Station in Assam at 12.27 pm and was to land at the Mechuka Advanced Landing Ground in Arunachal Pradesh at 1.25 pm, but didn’t contact ground agencies after 1 pm. There were 13 IAF personnel on board, including eight crew members, comprising six officers, besides five passengers.

The IAF put its back into the search for the aircraft, using its C-130s and helicopters, and even took the help of the army, Indo-Tibetan Border Police and local population. Eight days after it went missing, the wreckage of the AN-32 was found in Arunachal’s West Siang district on June 11. It bore an eerie resemblance to a 2009 crash of another IAF AN-32 in the state’s Tato area.

The Committee pointed out that during a study visit to the North-East in November, it was brought to its notice that the majority of the aircraft with the IAF are getting old, which also leads to accidents and loss of pilots. “Most of the accidents are due to technical error,” it said.

this is either due to nepotism which is common in Indian military officers core or IAF intentionally crash fighter jets to pressure GOI to buy or speed up foreign fighter jet acquisition... in this case MMRCA 2.0. Indian Military leadership is corrupt to bone and doesn't care if Indian govt has money or not.

le bhaiya ek aur gira .. IAF... Touch the sky with glories, Nabaha Sparsham deeptam :D 😂

Problem is, these people think they are very smart and professional, which they are not. Be it Army, IB IAF.. sarkaari naukari mil gayi babu ab kaun sala professional kaam karey Hum naahi karenge. But still they consider them professional. Reality is only 5-10 % in whole government system are capable, but rest are reservation bhartees.
These people both in military and bureaucracy 90% lack professional training and also integrity.

Private sector is no different.

Wow. Why the hurry to proclaim the root cause even before the agencies investigate. Aircraft are complex machinery with million parts, and then there is training, flight conditions, vintage of the aircraft. Many things can go wrong.
And IAF crashing planes to pressurize government is biggest piece of B.S I have heard today.

they are professional.
try flying an aircraft, try getting through their training. its no joke. many fail before they can get through the training.
please respect your armed forces and their training regime.
IAF is a big org with lots of aircraft and russian aircraft are really complex. please dont berate your own brethren.
