First of all buying of a 5th generation fighter will be a geopolitical pressure game for India for both the fighters... Secondly, in my personal opinion, if buying any becomes an essential then India should go for the F35 fighter but, it should be on the following terms like: I) Integration of AIM 260 , II) Integration of Indigenous weapons, III) No enforcement for de-activation of S400 systems, IV) Allowance for using it against any of our adversaries ( excluding USA ) in any condition, V) MRO facility in India, VI) Assistance in AMCA development, VII) No enforcement for buying other 4.5 gen fighters like F21/ F16/F15 etc.... In my opinion, Su 57 is not a complete 5th generation fighter as per as the definition.... But the negotiation tactics of India with USA will be tricky & tough by having Su57 as the closest competitor

@randomradio @Parthu @Rajput Lion and other experts do you guys know if we have succeeded in making Astra be guided by Netra AWACS directly? Or for now is it relying on midocurse updates from our jets?
Long back, i think 3-4 years back we had a discussion on this in this same forum. Conclussion was No, our awacs cannot do queing missile.

In my opinion in future, if we designs a wide body awacs with a combination of confrontal array & rotodome consisting of X band and s/l-and, it is plausible. Its a crazy idea, but we should pursue it.

Under a $4.5-billion emergency procurement programme launched soon after Operation Sindoor, the defence ministry is in advanced talks with US-based Shield AI to import its V-Bat combat drones for the Indian Air Force—while also laying the groundwork for local manufacturing through a joint venture with JSW Defence, part of the multi-industry conglomerate JSW Group.

The initial deal with the Indian Air Force is set to be worth $35 million, which is the upper cap for a contract being signed under the emergency procurement programme. Meanwhile, JSW Defence and Shield AI have entered into a $90-million joint venture (JV) deal for transfer of the drone’s technology to JSW. This could later make for a larger contract for the JV from the Air Force in the long run, three people with direct knowledge of the matter told Mint.

Note: $4.5-billion emergency procurement programme is the ₹40,000 crore fund, not cost of deal.

X-Band data would be sensor-fused with S-Band radar data to generate all-around weapons grade track cueing Astra missile in "buddy" mode.
Agreed that Xband can assist s band, bot how a nose mounter x bamd radar can assist s band over 360 deg?

If 6 Netra Mk-2 are at CCS approval stage & 6 nos Netra Mk-1a at AoN stage what's this RFI of 6 nos AEW&C all about ? Never come across this requirement before.
