Yea not gonna happen.

India has not even self produced a chip below 90 nm. It has no domestic capability for building server racks and hardware used in data centers and neither will it have it for the next 5 years at least.

We will ban Western apps, and then use Western hardware to house whatever sh*t we build. Like really? And you think West will just sit and watch?

This is also not considering VPNs which even the CCP whose technical prowess in this area is 1000x times more sophisticated and complex than Indias cannot fully block. Scores of Chinese can access Instagram YouTube and other sites through VPNs. China has managed to block many VPNs and yet some still evade their reach.

We will need to custom develop our smartphones with a customized version of Android with a customized play store which wont have those apps. This will take years (likely 15 years for a full switch). And if Apple doesnt agree to this app ban then we will have to literally ban iPhone sales in India (well you can say goodbye to iPhone production in India).

FYI: the current events show how powerful social media can be to discipline a government when it screws up. Kids committed suicide because of this NEET 2026 paper leak (the second time it has happened within 2 years) which would have been avoidable if that jungle ape of a human who was our education minister had learned from the 2024 leaks.

If you want the gov and the system to be in control of the algorithms which dictate what the youth consumes, then first demand the government and the bureaucracy to be filled with able and competent people who don't screw up (twice).

I know India is not in a position now to replace the foreign platforms here. I'm pointing out to this loophole in our security envelope. Using FOREIGN CONTROLLED SOCIAL-MEDIA is a double-edged sword. On One hand, genuine Students/ Oppressed people can raise their voice against the mis-treatments & incompetence of their own govt. , BUT ON THE OTHER HAND, Foreign Sources with control can easily use these platforms through their Millions of DIGITAL-SLAVES IN INDIA to build up EVIL NARRATIVE & OPINIONS against a stable Governance Structure, especially in a country like INDIA where people can go down to any level for money, if any action of INDIA goes (or, they think it may go) against their interests (even if their interest is not good for INDIA). THIS IS A HUGE HUGE THREAT TO SOVEREIGNTY OF INDIA, much more than preparing against DIRECT MILITARY THREATS .
You can ignore it by laughing off , but that doesn't change the reality.

I heard it's almost impossible to download a VPN in china and one either has to leave their country to get access to the free internet for them to download a VPN or they need someone to send them an VPN application themselves.

LMAO no, its not that hard at all, the gov turns a blind eye to the vast majority of VPN users simply because they know they cant be stopped, rather they try to monitor the users as much as they can. Its not very hard to get a VPN in china

Its a loophole also in place because of our "esteemed" IT bandars. China has a closed ecosystem and yet it developed TikTok which took over the world by storm. So called IT superpower India could not make a single comparable app? On one hand we have startups successfully launching satellites into orbit, on the other we have these IT bandars who are not innovative at all .

If India had created even 1 popular app, the problem would have solved itself to some extent.

More concerned about these kinds of elements joining Agnikul, Skyroot and those private companies running space, electronic and defence project. Literally very cheap affairs and cheap mentality. What a shame-
