Delhi Class & Rajput Class Destroyers : Discussions

It depends on the role they expect these ships to play. The ones with Brahmos and no VL-SRSAM can handle anti-shipping roles when operating under the protection of other ships while the remaining one with just VL-SRSAM can handle ASW. And the Styx are for self-protection.

Junking other missiles is at least 20-30 years away. We have new orders for 3 of the 4 you mentioned.
Styx for self-protection? Now that's a first. It has a range of <100km and poor eccm given its age. You'd be lucky if it hit something. It probably couldn't even mimic flight profiles of modern AShMs well enough to be used for target practice.

In service ones are entirely prepped by navy's own missile branch , and they have done some custom upgrades in many systems which we do not know. Plenty of Rus origin stuffs are refurbed in such unconventional ways that even the Rus themselves do not have those. This is one sector where navy is very good at, mission specific prep.

I'm guessing Styx units at INS Trata (Bombay High) are close to EOL since Brahmos MMCB are on order. The Rajput DDGs should get new missiles sooner than latter. Whether it's Brahmos or something else remains to be seen.

It's been modernized and is quite effective. The missile is still in service in many navies today.

Russia has 20 ships, we have 7 corvettes, same class.
