Any extension in lockdown would see widespread country wide violence
No. Further lockdown will be based on actual numbers. If the numbers have crossed 10k by then with 1k new cases every day, even the bravest assholes will be crapping in their pants. It takes time for people to realize the seriousness of the situation and unfortunately some people don’t get it till they see the body bags.

I think that we will enforce lockdown in few ghettos post 14th April. Can members from Kerala tell us the most effected districts in Kerala? My information is that the north Kerala is worst hit.

How America Is Leading the "Quad Plus" Group of Seven Countries in Fighting the Coronavirus
Is the Quad expanding its horizons? After a ten-year hiatus, this group of four Indo-Pacific democracies—Australia, Japan, India, and the United States—formally resumed their quadrilateral dialogue in late 2017, and has been meeting twice a year since. Late last year, the group upgraded the dialogue to the level of foreign minister and secretary of state.

On March 20, officials from the Quad countries gathered to discuss a new issue: the COVID-19 pandemic. It was a virtual meeting, of course. And there was another new wrinkle: this time they were joined by three new partners: South Korea, Vietnam, and New Zealand. According to India’s Ministry of External Affairs, the seven countries “shared their assessments of the current situation with respect to COVID-19, and discussed ways to synergize their efforts to counter its spread.”

The call, described as a “Quad-Plus video-conference” by the Times of India, was reportedly organized by U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Steve Biegun. The seven countries are “expected to continue the conference call on a weekly basis, covering issues like vaccine development, challenges of stranded citizens, assistance to countries in need and mitigating the impact on the global economy.”
The video conference appears less a formal Quad initiative than an assembly of like-minded countries determined to tackle a common challenge. Either way, it was a welcome development. It joins the Quad with Vietnam (the current chair of ASEAN), New Zealand a (“Five Eyes” partner), and South Korea, one of America’s closest regional allies.

Since 2013, the Heritage Foundation has organized annual Track 1.5 dialogues using the same terminology used in the Times of India report. The Quad-Plus Dialogue assembles officials and experts from the Quad countries along with a rotating external partner to explore areas of common interest. These “Plus” partners have included the Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, Taiwan, France, and Sri Lanka.

Initially, the Quad-Plus Dialogue (QPD) was designed to encourage the original Quad members to reconstitute the formal discussions that collapsed in 2008. Since the Quad was revived in 2017, the QPD has explored ways to improve the group’s effectiveness, inform its agenda, and promote cooperation with like-minded external partners.

To that end, we were encouraged to see the Quad hold its first counterterrorism exercise in India in late 2019—one of the Heritage dialogue’s focuses.

This month’s “Quad-Plus video-conference” was another step in the right direction—one with an important precedent. The origins of the Quad trace back to the devastating Indian Ocean tsunami of Christmas 2004 that claimed an astonishing 230,000 lives. In the aftermath, Australia, Japan, India, and America formed a Regional Core Group, serving as first responders until the United Nations sprang into action in mid-January.

Do You Know What Happened On This Day?
A Quad-Plus response to the COVID-19 crisis would carry forward this tradition and strengthen the foundations of the Quad 2.0. It also makes a lot of sense: crisis response, humanitarian aid, and disaster relief are areas where the four democracies are highly capable, face little internal political resistance, and can expand their soft power reach in the Indo–Pacific. Finally, it offers the Quad a valuable opportunity to gain experience forming functional coalitions with plus-partners to tackle pressing regional challenges.

If history is any guide, what looks like a small step forward for the Quad today could have larger implications for regional security and stability in the years ahead.

Can you believe that 1400 people were residing in a six story building for last three weeks?

If we are thinking that these people are fools and not aware of the pandemic we are the ones who are fools. These people are being used as vectors to spread the disease and they also know very well that young people will get well on their own like in normal flu.

But it's good for Modi, it's a blessing in disguise, now he can tell people that due to pandemic, India couldn't attain 5 trillion dollar economy.

Daily wage workers have begun their routine work.

We cannot enforce lock down further.

It's about time, shit is going to hit fan.

No PPE / no lock down.

Prepare for unimaginable numbers in few weeks.

Daily wagers have only 2 options:
Either die to due hunger and poverty
Or due to Coronavirus

That's nonsense. Even dying due to hunger during famines is an extremely rare event, to the point the govt even denies starvation being a thing in India.

And famines last years. This virus is just a 2 or 3 month event. The govt can easily handle this crisis when it comes to food and supplies, especially when the actual risk is only to 20% of those who get infected. The rest can go about their daily work after a few days of fever and coughing, maybe not even that.

Authorities are still debating a total lockdown across the US. Trump wants business as usual to resume by Easter .

A very misquoted line by the media. He never said "he wanted it"....he was looking at it if possible (and it was an easing, not "business as normal"). It would be foolish if all possibilities were not looked at and analysed constantly as to the costs and benefits.

Trump just extended the 15-day lockdown to April 30.

We've seen how effective opinion polls are in India. Ditto for the US too.

In the US they are still good to compare among themselves as point of reference. Say ABC to ABC earlier etc...to get idea of net change in support. Polling averages also do fairly well for capturing sentiment.

Al Jazeera reports Dr Fauci having declared that the US is looking at 1-2 lakh casualties in the next 3-4 months.

It's a prediction, and no, its not for the next 3-4 months...but the total period which is likely more than a year (till vaccine).

I'm sorry, but I don't see any quick fix solutions to this

Why would a president need a quick fix for it? Be it FDR or G W. Bush, subsequent term elections after massive goof ups/ball drops are often aided by crisis mode....as long as the public gauge the president is responding well to making the crisis go away.

this in an election year is nothing short of disastrous for an incumbent president.

Refer to above. It would reflect in the MSM polling for sure if so.

The Democrats don't have to do anything just highlight Trump's failures & incompetence.

Problem for them is they have been doing that for 4 years now....and its very boy cried wolf to lot of (esp swing) voters by now. If they actually strategically kept their powder dry for it (and been bipartisan with trump where relevant) and not run a sleepy forgetful (likely dementia) grampa now on top, they would have got a much better chance.

It is why they have actually toned down their direct overt criticism of trump lately (esp given Trump has Democrat governor ammo to counter with), preferring to outsource to their media lackeys as far as possible (leading to the much misquoted without context stuff)....because their internal polling shows just how many people are sick of their drama (the stimulus package delay already did big damage in crucial states like ohio), esp when there is a national crisis that needs dealing with.

Meanwhile Biden just scratches his head, has no presence in this matter at all, senile goofs up what few media moments come his way and that ruins his chances further.

Either die to due hunger and poverty

No bro, there is no scarcity of food. India has ample of food which goes wasted. The only problem bearers are the farmers who get just few thousand rupees for tons of producing wheat. These daily wagers are in city for money otherwise if they stay in villages, they are not dying of hunger at least.

Food is not the issue here.

Free khori and haramkhori is the issue.
