Chinese Wuhan Virus Thread

You haven't understood the scale of the problem.

Even with just 1 lakh people, it has taken 12 days from just 1 city. What about 1 million people?
Piyush Goyal tweeted few days back that they transported 3 Lakh people in around 270 trains. So around 90 trains are needed to take 1 Lakh migrants. That's official figure released by Rail Minister after so much hesitation.

The migrant labour is estimated to be 10 Crores

They are present in all cities , Big and small or even Semi Urban areas

Obviously all are not going back

Only those who came close to starving went back

Now how could it have been stopped

By announcing a Small Rescue package on 14 th April when they made the first
Extension in lockdown

Those migrants who gathered at Bandra station on 14 th April were the first indication of an Incoming
Disaster

If MSMEs had got a Collateral free or Interest Free loan by 14 th April
They would have paid salaries

But Chief Economic Adviser was busy Stitching a 20 Lakh Crore package INCLUDING
FDI in SPACE SECTOR ( very imaginative people in Finance ministry )

This starvation story is suspect.

My uncle's friend owns an empty apartment building and also some industries. He supported 70 migrant families. He provided each family with a single two-bedroom flat and two month's salary. Plus free food, water, utility etc. On the 3rd, they all decided to leave back to their hometowns even though they were offered two extra months salary to stay and continue working.

It's been nearly 2 months and there have been no verifiable mentions of issues from starvation from places where they stayed. Starvation issues have propped up after migrants decided to walk home, which is obvious since there's no govt or any machinery available to feed migrants in the middle of nowhere.

Modi won in 2019 because of poor people who liked his Schemes of Bank accounts , Free Gas cylinders and Toilets in every house

Now Today who will the poor blame for all their suffering and Deaths due to
Exhaustion and accidents since they are walking in this summer without proper food

State governments have already washed off their hands

They are all blaming Modi

Migrants here is a generic term to describe everyone who's come here for work cutting across class barriers. It holds true for a top engineer of a tech based MNC to a businessman to a construction worker. A significant number migrants are also successfully settled there either in rental accommodation or a few fortunate ones who own their own dwellings.

Here, we refer to migrants who come here seasonally in search of work & return home in the harvesting season. Besides if you've gone through the article, it States very clearly that 63% of the migrants in Bangalore are from other parts of Karnataka. Add migrants from TN, TLG, AP, Kerala to it too - all of whom don't need trains to travel back home & the proportion of migrant labour from up North & the East comes down drastically.

While your considered articulation on logistics is well taken, your innate ability to conflate unrelated issues, conceal / gloss over relevant information, highlight others to Buttress your point just to scrore brownie points to win a debate continues.

Relevant information, brownie points, none of that make sense.

Are you saying there are only a few dozen migrants from outside the state? Or at the very least half a million? Maybe at least 100,000? But it is still unrealistic to find them all trains anyway, even after lockdown has been lifted.

Think logically. How many trains are actually available, and how many trains can carry how many people? A single sleeper bogie carries only 72 passengers. Some bogies are available with sitting in different classes, and that's about 150 people if my memory serves me right. At worst you can ask people to sit through the entire journey even in the sleeper class. With 120 people on average in each bogie, and 15 such bogies, we get 1800 people per train. No social distancing. And you can use a train only once. A return journey is impossible since the track is used up by the next train. Even railway lines see traffic, much more so than road traffic. You wanna use 5 or 6 trains, you still only get to take 10,000 people or so a day. Even with a train every 15 minutes (which is impossible on the same line, only 1 city will hog all the traffic then), we only get 170000 people per day, which is still not enough.

Also, changing the schedule of the railways is impossible in short notice. This is something the railways have taken years (decades) to perfect. Which is why you will at most get just 5 or 6 trains a day in reality. The very reason why only 1 lakh have been evacuated over the last 12 days.

Yeah, a lot of migrants are middle class and similar, even above, but that doesn't mean lower class migrants are less than 1 lakh.

Also, the lockdown in Karnataka was absolute. Just because many were from within the state did not get them a pass to leave the city of district. All district entrances and exits were blocked off. So even the internal migrants were stuck in their adopted areas. So we are talking about millions of people, with migration having taken place over decades, not just a few months or years. It's impossible to reverse this in just a day or two.

You see, when actual numbers are used, one starts understanding the logistics involved.

In other news China agreed to build most controversial Basha Dam for Pakistan, a dam nobody wanted to build because of India's objections.

I hope the body blow we landed to China by cosponsoring resolution towards inclusion of Taiwan in a WHO meet really disintegrate China.

But missing an opening, paying higher cost won't be the first for India. At least now we can show off how strong power we are while we pray for next stand off at LAC be resolved without humiliation.

Question-
Any other country paid this much cost for inclusion of Taiwan in WHO meet? Or only genius super power India paid a massive dam for it?

They are free to blame Modi as much as they want, but that would only mean they are not being realistic. The fact is the number of migrants who are actually walking are not a lot relative to the population and will serve little to no purpose during elections.

As for proper food, all they had to do was stay put, wherever they were before lockdown was announced. The fact is all the migrants were already living in the richest parts of India with the best support structure and infrastructure in the country, along with the best access to food, medicine and healthcare. And now they are moving to the poorest parts of India and are still expecting govt support without existing support infrastructure available.

Purely based on statistics... which one would you prefer?
This:

Or this:

Based on the reality of the situation, the Modi govt's actions have been entirely correct.

The First proof of whether Modi did the Right thing will be seen in Bihar elections , which even if delayed will be held within One year

Not a very good litmus test in a state where BJP is already weak. The states that are more interesting would be MP and UP instead. But the elections here are much later. Even educated people haven't understood the positive effects of the action taken by the Modi govt since very few people have actually been affected by the virus relative to the population. Even in developed countries, white folks, those who were affected by the virus directly or even through kin have agreed and supported the Indian police's public beatings that went viral on the internet to ensure lockdown. An election before full economic recovery, especially in a poor state like Bihar will see elections which will have more to do with economic performance than Modi's anti-virus policies.

There are people in Rajasthan who think the virus is an animal the size of the palm, which will jump inside your mouth to infect you. And you need to only cover your mouth to protect yourself. With that level of knowledge, who's gonna explain to them about Modi's policies?

Let me tell one thing very clearly, in this country, there will always be freeloaders(free khors and bhikmangey), ghareeb(poverty), backwards and everything which can be seen as BPL. And with the time it will increase.

Today I am telling you again, there won't be any significant establishment of foreign firms in India. They will move out of China and go to Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia Singapore. But they will not come to India in large. The reasons are political instability, freeloader labour, strikes, involvement of courts, communal disharmony, lawlessness.

India will never become an influencing industrial economy before 2090 if the condition and the attitude of people don't change.

BC dukan khulti nahi, bhikmangey humarey desh mein pehle padhaar lety hai. Sometimes, govt employs asking for chanda sometimes netas or sometimes local goons. And Indians want to become vishwaguru?

Damn!!

Even if Modi sells off his kidney and liver and deposit money in Govt account people will still criticize him. Positive criticism is good but in India its taunting , haramkhori and negativity.

Is desh mein sirf lootery ya phir sanyasi hi reh saktey hai.

Learn from Mahabharat and Ramayana.

Sri Ram had to stay away from his own wife due to a lootera, and then a dhobi. So you can imagine.

Very Broad and Sweeping Generalisations

Let me say this

In India inspite of such huge inequality
Crime rate is low

How many of these poor labourers indulged in violence and crime

They preferred to walk but did not Beg in cities

Modi could have announced Rs 5000 per month for Urban poorest and those migrants who were worst affected

The identification of these poorest of the poor could have been done
By State Governments , NGOs and even BJP workers

At least it would have given some re assurance

Only the most desperate people are going back in such a dangerous manner and getting killed

Even 3 crore people if given 5000 Rs per month would have led to an expenditure of 15000 crores per month

And for 4 months it becomes 60000 crores which is 3 percent of your 20 Lakh crore package

He did NOT do it because it was similar to Congress NYAY scheme
And Rahul Gandhi would have taken credit

Modi wanted 20 Lakh crores or Nothing

What is the use of giving 500 Rs to ALL
Jan Dhan accounts if the most needy are still starving

do you even understand the level of problem world/india is facing?
saying is easy implementing is difficult, you even don't know how many people are migrated/affected.
and why only migrated worker why not all worker who have been affected by this.
and why not include the people who are job less.
just tell us how you make sure that money you giving is reaching them?
please enlighten us, how many people and time you need to identify and deliver the money.
and make sure that big chunk is not eaten by corrupt official.

Crime rate is low
Crimes in villages don't get reported. Forget villages, Bhai tum delhi ao our of court settlement in just 25k. SHO will be benefited. No court no panga. Infact even if it goes to court, a judge will take few lakhs for a normal theft case or dowry in your favour. 10-8 lacs thats all.

Whole court is on sale in India. Some at lower level, SC and HC at upper level.
Modi could have announced Rs 5000 per month for Urban poorest and those migrants who were worst affected

What urban poorest, go to dharavi, in mumbai, go to seelampur in delhi. All unauthorized colonies, free water electricity, 7-7 family members in 110 sq feet home.
And from where you will get Rs 5000? Even voting cards are fake in all of the Hindi belt. In which world are you living bro?

In India just show your self poor and you will get anything.

Take loan from government for set up a factory, show your factory is running, pay local policemen and few people. Default the loan by using it for yourself and family and file for factory failure.

80% Indians do that. And you are asking to give more free?

sab free baant do BC , sometimes in the name of NGO somtimes in the name of loan and sometimes in the name of calamity. No criteria whom to give whom not. All 135 crore in India are becharey, lacharey, chamar bimaar.

This is the reality of India dude. Come out of all your La La Land dreams.
What is the use of giving 500 Rs to ALL
Jan Dhan accounts if the most needy are still starving

Even if Modi had given one crore to these nikammey free loaders producing 10 kids they would have demanded more.

Kaamchor hai bhai yeh sab, mehnat nahi karna chahtey!

BC they have money to buy booze, but can't buy rail tickets, nikamme chor sab 80% Indians

Seriously, you need to wake up!!!!

Covid situation as of 19th May 2020.

  • Maharashtra is sinking!
25% positive to total tests so we are nowhere close to peak, rest of India almost 4%.
  • Uttar Pradesh is now discharging same number of patients as new infections from last 2 weeks continuously with active cases hovering around 1700 now. With influx of inter state migrants cases may start rising.
  • Tamil Nadu is doing well and maybe plateauing.
  • Gujarat is flattening the curve. Hope they start to stabilize and then bend the curve.
  • Delhi is stabilizing too but their data is as good as Bengal so we don't know what's happening in reality.
  • Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh both have started to rise again after being stable for long but this could be due to migration.
Except Maharashtra every state is either stable or minor increase. What could be the reason? Saw many videos of lockdown being mocked by particular community because of Ramzan, social distancing was nowhere and people were overcrowded for religious activities. What more is wrong?

What do you suggest ? When even small african nations stood up and joined all other countries to investigate china you want India to behave like a obedient school boy and not offend Chinese ? . Btw, those who pray for peace in LAC wont call out the Chinese very openly like the below , you just need common sense to understand this .

Replied to, in detail if you care to read before posting.

Sure buddy, we finished terrorism in Pakistan by electing strong leadership now with Cabinet Ministers giving statement against China I have no doubt we will bring them to knees.

If only being motor mouth could suffice. What's the name of this strategy? Jumla-e-Hind?
