“In the AEW&C and AWACS programmes, we do not do the aircraft. We take the aircraft from airlines. We put sensors on it which allow that aircraft to act as a surveillance system. So, it flies and looks at objects coming towards the country from more than 350 kms. AEW&C Mark-I has already been inducted into the Air Force. AEW&C Mark-II started one year ago and we have a PDC of sixty months to complete this.”

That I don't know, this only means that work will pick up soon, if around May-June is the joining since consultancy work is such.

Ok, got some clarity. The future 360° AWACS system will also be implemented on A-321 instead of A-330 similar to Netra Mk-2. Whether the future A-321 will be a refurbished one a new one is still up for debate.
Another stupid proposal to decay the military capability. We want to induct the original 28 numbers of p8I, not this short legged concept platform.

If they are trying for Raytheon Sentinel then why develop main underbelly radar? Looks like there is alot of miscommunication in the desi defence enthusiast's community.Clearly, he is mixing ISTAR and SIGINT etc. I don't know how it can all be called EW!.

ISTAR is mostly software. They are trying to extract maximum from the deal. Thus the delay.
