Which means it can go on for another 15-16 yrs after which it ought to be de commissioned.

It also makes sense when you consider the fact that given the advances in electronics made every year , you have to upgrade your systems every 8-10 yrs or perhaps even in a lesser time span to stay relevant.

Besides there's a limit to how far one can upgrade ones AEW systems.

25 years easily. Unlike SAAB 2000 platform of which only handful were made 25 years ago. A320 family won't face same problem.

Canadians and Germans are flying A310 today and plan to do so for another decade. That won't be a problem for us.

Yes there were some handles reporting on this earlier. If I'm not mistaken either Aroor or Snehesh also covered this in an article a year back or before that.

Now Saurav Jha is confirming this bit of news. Suffice to say at this point if 6 EMBRAER based Netra Mk-1 AEW is taken up then in all likelihood we're not seeing the 3x Phalcon AWACS fructify. It'd be permanently put into the cold storage or scrapped.

This means they are expecting delays in 6 A321 based AEWCS Mk2
There was a lot of investment made so as to certify the EMB 145 platform for AEWCS use. Something which was totally burdened by India alone.

Additional Emb145s were an issue due to a possible graft/corruption charge. I don't know what happened to that.

If that went away then atleast 3 more EMB 145 based units should be procured.
